Subject: [Bug 1160676] Re: [System Product Name, ATI RS690/780 HDMI, Digital
Out, HDMI] No sound at all

HDMI audio was disabled by the upstream kernel developers as it causes
blank screens on a lot of systems.

You can re-enable HDMI audio by adding radeon.audio=1 to your GRUB
boot options. There are reports on the Phoronix forums that this also
fixes the fast video playback problem.

Regarding the lack of HDMI audio, it is disabled by default for ATI
Radeon. According to the developer Alex Deucher, The current HDMI code
causes blank screens on a lot of systems if audio is enabled. Until that
gets fixed properly, I thought it better to disable it.

Add radeon.audio=1 to your kernel boot options in GRUB to enable the
 HDMI audio support.

[Bug 974480] Re: Notification area whitelist is obsolete

2013-03-11 Thread none
A wishlist bug that breaks third-party software becomes high priority
because of its origin, rather than being evaluated on its technical
merits? It seems that the real intent behind many of Canonical's recent
decisions is to make ubuntu break away from the larger linux community.

[Bug 551090] Re: drag and drop bookmark functionality broken

2012-03-05 Thread None ofyour business
Firefox 10.0.2 and Ubuntu 10.10 user.

Same issue - every once in awhile the bookmarks will not allow drag
and drop.

I just discovered that (on my system at least) the bug can be initiated by
visiting Pandora radio for some reason.
Perhaps it's something to do with Flash player?

3 times I reproduced same results: drag and drop works fine and then the
instant you visit Pandora it suddenly stops working.

It's one of those bugs that crops up seemingly randomly - so perhaps being
able to reproduce it on demand can help nail down what's causing it... I hope
it helps anyway

Re: [Bug 795207] Re: package udev 162-2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-09-12 Thread none
Hi Brian,
It could be that it was a drive problem. At the time I was using ubuntu on a
live usb stick.
Those problems have disappeared when switching to Ubuntu via the  Wubi
installer.
I'm now happily running Ubuntu 11.04 alongside windows and all those issues are
gone.
In fact, Wubi is the best way to try out Ubuntu, not the live usb stick, for me.

There seem to be some issues with your installation of Ubuntu based off
the following messages in dmesg:

[  427.050819] aufs au_xino_do_write:378:python[4582]: I/O Error, write failed
(4294967268)
[  427.050824] aufs au_xino_write:414:python[4582]: I/O Error, write failed (-5)

As far as I can tell these are problems reading and writing to your Live
Media.  Is the drive that you are running Ubuntu off of okay?  Thanks in
advance.

[Bug 454301] Re: warning given about disk health due to smart not being enabled

2010-11-25 Thread -None-
After boot, time to time, i have same message (DISK IS BEING USED OUTSIDE
DESIGN PARAMETERS) on my SSD Corsair F40. Disk is new attached to my box
only for testing purposes. Now it have one LVM partition w/o any logical
volumes. After one or two hours of uptime warning disappears and disk status is
OK.
Also I have another SSD in my box for system partitions: Corsair V64, I'v never
seen this warning message for it.

[Bug 634211] Re: /dev/dsp* disappeared after upgrade Lucid=Maverick [ how-to at #52]

2010-11-02 Thread Dheath None
If /dev/dsp is completely removed then at least make the OSS Proxy Daemon in
the package manager!
This way people can get the /dev/dsp back if desired.

I'v tried:
in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1
or
options snd-hda-intel bdl_pos_adj=32

also try
in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf to change
default-fragments = 5
default-fragment-size-msec = 25

the problem still present.

BTW i observe that stuttering is present on high bandwidth sound files
at the 64-128Mbps mp3s i have no problems with playback.

[Bug 432594] [NEW] Nvidia 180 driver fail on compiz

2009-09-18 Thread None
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have noticed this bug for some time now and its time to create a
report. When i am using my desktop effects with compiz, the nvidia
driver sometime crashes randomly. I have no idea what is causing this
though. I am using the standard effects in linux and the recommended
nvidia driver version 180.

I have included my xorg logs, i cant really find other indicators. dmesg
and the kernel logs are clean. The driver fails on my nVidia Quadro FX
770M chip. In my HP Elitebook 8530w. I am going to install the beta 190
drivers, when the problem is solved i will delete this thread.

In the logs included you see errors with:
(II) NVIDIA(0): Initialized GPU GART.
(II) NVIDIA(0): Initialized GPU GART.
(WW) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA X driver has encountered too many errors. Falling
(WW) NVIDIA(0): back to write-back cached memory.

[Bug 386150] Re: Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly

2009-06-21 Thread none
The stop button should not be removed without replacement.

I like the way evolution displays its current actions and provides a button to
abort each of them - in the status bar. That way, no (mostly greyed out) stop
button is required in the toolbar, and current actions can be aborted right
where they are being displayed.

How difficult would it be to implement this in nautilus?

I can confirm this too. I am under the impression that this issue arises more
often when booting with the lid closed and/or when being disconnected from the

Maybe this syslog can help us find the problem?

[Bug 326749] Re: [jaunty] Cannot Start Gnome Desktop

2009-02-08 Thread none
Confirming this bug. I had the same issue with KDE, so its unlikely to
be related to gnome-session. Disabling the nvidia driver fixed it for
me.

[Bug 226933] Re: rhythmbox stops playing when x-fading to new song

2008-06-19 Thread none
I can confirm this bug: Rhythmbox 0.11.5, cross-fading enabled and set to 0
seconds, Ubuntu 8.04
This also happenes without shuffling. When it happens, there is a paused sign
next to the finished track in the list. Pressing the play button does not
resume playback for me. Selecting the next track works.
