Public bug reported:

after the update on 21/9/19 of pulseaudio to 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.10 I get no

[Bug 1742323] Re: Meltdown Update Kernel doesnt boot

2018-01-09 Thread owise1
Hi - just did update and also had issue where boot failed to progress -
bit hard to tell what was happening as the HDMI video had not come up at
that point. had to revert to 4.4.0-104. Running on Intel NUC
Celeron(R) CPU 847.

[Bug 1504688] Re: fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem)

2017-01-07 Thread owise1
Hi, I also appear to have this bug. Does not materially impact boot
time as is only involves the EFI system partition but it is a pain as
when I switch to any virtual terminal I see that boot message but do not
get a cmd prompt.

Clean install of 16.04 on an Intel NUC with ssd drive.

[Bug 1174162] Re: chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu

2016-10-10 Thread owise1
On my system this bug appears to have been resolved since Chromium
updated to Version 53.0.2785.143. I note that when I boot up the
system, at the log-in screen that I get a dialogue box requesting the
wireless network password which has not occurred in the past so not sure
if something has also changed with gnome-keyring.

[Bug 1174162] Re: chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu

2016-06-15 Thread owise1
I found that stopping the gnome-keyring process resulted in the PC
running normally again until the screen lock came on. This resulted in
been unable to unlock the screen again requiring dropping to a command
line via Ctrl + Alt + F1 to allow a reboot.

Therefore does Petar Bojovic's ugly fix cause the same issue?

[Bug 292585] Re: Evolution Mail Notification has no sound

2011-04-15 Thread owise1
Have the same issue but have just converted my wav to an ogg and it
works OK (although I think that I have tried an ogg earlier.
Unfortunately after reading through the posts I also installed the
gstreamer plug in for canberra so not sure if that was also involved in
the fix.

For new users of Ubuntu I think that using an ogg might be a bit
confusing

[Bug 595845] Re: libcairo2 1.9.10 makes Ubuntu 10.10 slow

2010-12-27 Thread owise1
I also have this bug. Updated to 10.10 and had problem with X so am
running novoeau due a problem with the legacy drivers for my old MX440
nvidia card.

Tried the clearlooks theme and while it appeared to make a small
improvement - you can see the progress bar actually moving, Xorg is
running at 75% CPU utilization while the progress bar is in the
building data structures phase. This occurs regardless of weather
update manager is the visible window or not.

the nvidia-96 drivers need to be packaged otherwise every time there is
kernel chnage you will have to re-run the nvidia .RUN script. A PITA

[Bug 604777] Re: Unity causing massive memory leak when hovering over the quicklists

2010-09-04 Thread owise1
This bug affects me as well

On eeePC 701 with 4G HD and 512M ram. Installed beta version of netbook
edition with default install. Found that running pointer over
quicklists has swap usage climbing till it hits 100% without have any
other applications open other than system monitor. This renders system
unusable. Use of RAM remains at around 25%

Have re-installed without any swap - has large amount of disk activity
on first start that appears to be related to quicklists being
populated?? Still very sluggish but just useable. Logging in to a
normal desktop edition make this little PC much more responsive.
