I seem to be getting this error message:

User postinst hook script [/sbin/update-grub] exited with value 10

subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 10

Does anyone know what exactly error exit status 10 means? And would a
manual reinstall/editing of menu.lst work in this case?

Hey. Could you describe the exact process (and commands) that you used? Did
you uninstall the linux-image-generic before reinstalling it? I had
previously tried this method using synaptic but it had not worked for me.
And I am a little unsure about using terminal commands, since I am afraid of
messing around with my install. Thanks a lot!
