Hi Dmitri - first of all - huge thanks for the help :) I have tried passing nomodeset, and the flickering did disappear (I don't think I tried using the Fn keys though) but my impression was that it caused a degradation in performance, and the MSI wind isn't really a performance beast to begin with :) - - regarding the USB \ Webcam compatibility problems - unfortunately - I need both of them to function on the netbook, as it is mostly a communication platform while on the road (at least for me, but I believe this could also be the case for many others) Any chance that the changes in the kernel described in 435352 be merged into the current Karmic kernel and released as an update? I'm not a big fan of using non-standard repo's and manual installations, because the maintnance overhead it creates. especially on a netbook which should, ideally, just work. Hi, It's been quite some time since the release and my U100 is still unusable with Karmic (brightness flickers, not usb hotplug, no SD card hotplug, webcam doesn't work) I had to reinstall 9.04 (Which works perfectly with this netbook, btw).
