@Marek: yes, it seems to me that it can't draw the ui. maybe i should try another laf ? And as i mentioned above, it's on a netbook with the ubuntu netbook remix (upcoming 9.04 dev version), resolution 1024x600 or something like that. I can confirm this bug, too.
