this bug still persists on ubuntu 12.10, with emacs24. the buffers menu in the menu bar is never updated. my installation was an upgrade from ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. during the upgrade-process there was no errors or complains. my file system is ext4 yesterday i installed ubuntu 11.04 from the cd. then i had no problem with emacs. so i think. my problem depends on the upgrade of ubuntu.
