Public bug reported: This problem is with 8.04LTS. There are two problems with the method of accepting any key at the end of the 'Check CD for Defects' process. 1. If the user hits a key at all during the CD check, the test will not even wait at the end and the results can't be seen. 2. The CD check can take a while and if the user walks away the screen will go blank. To wake up the screen the user must push a key.; Again the user does not get a chance to read the results of the CD Check. Public bug reported: During the install, at 83%, if the repos can not be accessed (Lack of network, ISP issues, etc) the install disables the security updates from ever happening. It comments it out of sources.list. This is easy to fix for someone who knows what it means but is very hard on new users. Also if the user forgets or if someone else set up the machine, they may never turn it back on. Thus this has the potential to create a large number of vulnerable Ubuntu machines. A suggested fix would be to have the system try to re-enable the security repos in the sources.list as soon as a new network connection is detected. I have this bug too. I have a Dell 3110cn Network printer. I am using the generic postscript file. I have set both settings in printer preferences to US Letter. When I try to print the test page it sends it as A4. I have closed the printer preferences and reopened it to make sure it stuck. All settings were still letter. However a second attempt still sends A4 to the printer. While this bug may have cleared up for the other guy, it definitely exists.
