[Bug 1184451] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites

2013-11-09 Thread pirrax
Doing the same thing like Goalie Fight wrote (#46). My system is now
running without freezing. At the first login, something crashed. I think
it was compiz or X? I don't know anymore.

nouveau was not installed in my fresh Ubuntu 13.10 system. Should this
package be in a fresh installed system?

I think, the solution #46 works for my system. If any instability occurs
again, I will let you know.

BTW: the command should be sudo apt-get remove nouveau and not remote
;)

[Bug 327110] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 freezes now and then after grub

2009-05-28 Thread pirrax
Yesterday I downloaded Ubuntu 9.04 and burned the iso file. The CD won't
boot at all on my PC. After trying some boot options and finally
disabling lapic (nolapic) the cd booted at last and complaining that
something was wrong with the BIOS. This was an useful hint. So I updated
my mainboard BIOS and problem solved. I don't have any idea, why the old
Ubuntu versions (e.g. 8.04) didn't have any problem at all with my old
mainboard BIOS, but the newer did. Just a little info aside: my CPU is
an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ on MSI K9N SLI-2F mainboard. The chipset is
nForce 570 SLI. Just in case, that someone wants to analyse this
problem.

[Bug 327110] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 freezes now and then after grub

2009-03-05 Thread pirrax
I just had to restart my PC 2 times, before I could start this session.

I remembered, that I had the same problem on my notebook. It is an ASUS
A6Q00VA. I couldn't boot Linux after a kernel update. Not even the safe
mode would start. Perhaps the problem lies in kernel and not in grub?

[Bug 327110] [NEW] Ubuntu 8.10 freezes now and then after grub

2009-02-09 Thread pirrax
Public bug reported:

Now and then after selecting Ubuntu 8.10 in grub the boot sequence hangs
on Starting up The boot sequence just freeze and only hard boot
(by pressing the reset button) can help.

I looked at /var/log/syslog and couldn't find any entry. Looks like Ubuntu
failed to access my SATA hard drive.
The funny thing is, that normaly after a hard reboot, Ubuntu starts correctly.
I installed Ubuntu 8.10 cleanly from the CD. No Update from previous version.

My PC specification:
- Athlon Dual Core X2 5000+
- MSI K9N SLI-2F mainboard
- 2x1024 MDT DDR2 800 RAM
- Gecube 4870
- 400 GB Samsung SATA hard drive

/var/log/syslog is attached.

[Bug 298494] Re: OpenOffice.org Impress: Faltering embedded sound in PPS files

2009-01-13 Thread pirrax
I can confirm this problem. Ubuntu 8.10 Open Office 2.4. It's quite
anoying, if the sounds stutter all the time during the presentation.
