[Bug 898830] [NEW] [regression] no connection with openconnect

2011-12-01 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

Since Oneiric it is no longer possible to connect to various servers

In Comment 4 in Bug 881720 a developer explains the details
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openconnect/+bug/881720/comments/4)

I'll paste them here again as this issue was not addressed in the other
bug:

dwmw2 (dwmw2) wrote on 2011-10-29: #4

pittipatti is correct. I'll elucidate...

Long ago (commit 3bee59c in v2.26) we switched from using TLSv1 to
SSLv3, because some servers (or their firewalls) seem to reject any
connections with Hello extensions.

In v3.11 (commit 4ad3d6c) we changed that again, because some servers
also reject SSLv3 connections. Now we use TLSv1 but explicitly disable
extensions. This should work everywhere.

We have *also* made openconnect export this code as a proper shared
library, so when things like that are updated it will automatically take
effect in the auth-dialog too. Older versions (including v3.02) only
exported a *static* library because we weren't quite ready to call the
API stable at that point.

What you need to do is update the openconnect package and make sure
you're installing the shared library, and then make sure your network-
manager-openconnect (and kde4-plasma-networkmanagement) packages are
using the *shared* library for their authentication dialogs.

--

So please update to a version = 3.11 to make this package usable again.

Thanks

[Bug 881720] Re: Openconnect hangs upon connecting

2011-10-29 Thread pittipatti
a new version of openconnect implies a new build of network-manager-
openconnect-gnome against the new version of openconnect as well,
since the auth-dialog[1] in this package gives https connection errors
when build against v3.02 of openconnect.

I'm seeing the same issues on a Dell E4300 using Kubuntu 11.04.
All settings have no effect on the touchpad behaviour.
Interesingly after awaking from suspend to ram the settings get set and e.g.

[Bug 456428] [NEW] (regression) mountall does not reboot after changed filesystem fsck run

2009-10-20 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

After an fsck run modifying the filesystem, mountall says that the
system has to be rebootet but it actually does not reboot like it did in

This is very inconvenient on remote systems where you cannot hit the

[Bug 432334] [NEW] Displaystate not remebered after suspend/resume (KMS)

2009-09-18 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

In my Samsung Q45 with Intel GM965 graphics I encounter the following
problem when using KMS:

After a suspend/resume cycle the internal LVDS always gets enabled,
whether it was on before or not.

State before suspend/resume: LVDS: off / VGA: 1600x1200
State after resuming from suspend: LVDS: 1280x800 / VGA: 1600x1200

xrandr --query reports that the LVDS is off and it is not possible to
turn it off by issuing xrandr --output LVDS --off

To finally turn the LVDS off it needs to be enabled it first by using xrandr
... --auto.
Afterwards it is possible to really turn it off.

1. screen is on LVDS of the notebook
2. connect external VGA
3. activate external monitor: xrandr --output VGA1 --auto
4. disconnect external monitor
5. deactivate external monitor: xrandr --output VGA1 --off
6. again connect the VGA plug
= xrandr --query shows: VGA1 disconnected

after that it is impossible to get the external monitor working.
The only solution is to reboot the system.

[Bug 387345] [NEW] NM does not memorize network state on suspend/resume or restart

2009-06-15 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

After resuming from suspend (or restarting) I would expect the system to be in
the same networking state as as before the suspend.
In particular when networking was disabled before suspending, I would expect it
to still be disabled after resuming.

But, networking allways gets enabled after resuming or restarting the

[Bug 362493] [NEW] [jaunty] Wrong plasma geometries after xrandr screen resize

2009-04-16 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

Sometimes (around 1 of 10 times) plasma does not set the right desktop
geometries after switching to a higher screen resolution.

This happens when I switch from my laptop screen (1280x800) to the

Please see the attached screenshot.

It is possible to resize the panel to full width, but it is impossible
scale the background image to the full screen (using background

In the Xorg.0.log I can only find these three lines repeating
continously when working with the desktop:

alpha and source value blending.
(II) intel(0): EXA fallback: Unsupported picture format 0x1011000
(II) intel(0): EXA fallback: Check Mask picture texture

But there are no extra errors shown when the distortion occurs.

I can also see this kind of distortion when I switch to fullscreen in
dragon player.
The control bar at the top of the screen gets distorted. (please see

I also saw this in Digikam, but can't find a way to reproduce it right
now.

[Bug 347818] [NEW] Plasma: small panel changes height after resolution changes

[Bug 347623] [NEW] Samsung q45 does not produce key-release events for Fn-Keys (patch included)

2009-03-23 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

The Samsung Q45 does not send key release events for several Fn-keys.
Bug #295251 describes the same misbehavior on another Samsung notebook (NC10)

As the Q45 uses the same keycodes as the NC10, I extended the fix with
the DMI information of my Q45, which works great on my machine, and

[Bug 251212] Re: [Bug 251212 The bug still exists!]

2009-02-05 Thread pittipatti
The bug still exists!

It occurs under the following condition:
* resolution change to a lower resolution than that of the point in time
when compiz was started

Example:
compiz was started when system had a resolution of 1024x768
* switch to a lower resolution (eg. 800x600) crashes the Xserver
but:
* switching to a higher resolution (eg. 1280x1024) and back to 1024x768
works

Steps to reproduce:
  1. start Xserver
  2. switch to the highes resolution
  3. now start compiz
  4. switch to a lower resolution

This behavior can especially be seen when switching from a dual-head
setup back to one monitor (eg. on a notebook)

I tested this on an Intel GM965 chipset

attached you can find a backtrace of the crash. I hope it is complete.

[Bug 210780] Re: MTRRs set up incorrectly with 4GB RAM - X slow

2008-12-13 Thread pittipatti
Hi Lean,

I'm using the same hardware as the original poster Mika (Samsung Q45,
Intel GM965 graphics, 4GB ram) and cannot confirm MTTR's beeing setup
correctly in 2.6.27-9-server.

I'm using the server kernel image as the generic kernel only detects
3GB of ram, but that's a different issue.

With 2.6.27-9 the MTTRs are set up like this:

reg00: base=0xc000 (3072MB), size=1024MB: uncachable, count=1
reg01: base=0x ( 0MB), size=4096MB: write-back, count=1
reg02: base=0x1 (4096MB), size=1024MB: write-back, count=1
reg03: base=0xbf70 (3063MB), size= 1MB: uncachable, count=1
reg04: base=0xbf80 (3064MB), size= 8MB: uncachable, count=1

After applying the changes proposed by the tool mttr-uncover from D. Hugh
Redelmeier I get the following layout which allows the X-server to enable
write-combining:

reg00: base=0x ( 0MB), size=2048MB: write-back, count=1
reg01: base=0x8000 (2048MB), size=1024MB: write-back, count=1
reg02: base=0x1 (4096MB), size=1024MB: write-back, count=1
reg03: base=0xbf70 (3063MB), size= 1MB: uncachable, count=1
reg04: base=0xbf80 (3064MB), size= 8MB: uncachable, count=1
reg05: base=0xd000 (3328MB), size= 256MB: write-combining, count=1

Is there anything I can test/help to resolve this issue?

[Bug 146692] Re: Hardy will not boot on Samsung Q45 laptops

2008-09-04 Thread pittipatti
I tried the latest .27 Intrepid-kernel but the problem still persists.

But there exist patches against mainline kernel to fix this bug.
This bug was discussed in upsteam-bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10448) as stated by Sam.
Finally there is a fix in http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9614 which
is a duplicate report.

This fix won't make it into .27 but it is in Andi Kleen's linux-acpi test
branch.
Look for the patch-series of Thomas Renninger dated 2008-08-01:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/ak/linux-acpi-2.6.git;a=shortlog;h=test;pg=8

With a kernel build from this git-tree, loading of video.ko doesn't
freeze my samsung q45 with intel graphics anymore.

Re: [Bug 212800] Re: no brightness-control on samsung laptop

2008-09-04 Thread pittipatti
@ Tobias: can you please tell which graphics hardware your q45 has
(intel/nvidia)?

The bugreport was for the intel-version and I can't confirm that it is
working with latest Intrepid 2.6.27-2.3 on a q45 with intel graphics..

The problem is, that the needed module video.ko can't be loaded, because
it freezes the laptop immediately.
This bug is handled in bug #146692 and a fix is available.

But still with this fix brightness-control isn't available on the intel
q45.

2008-08-11 Thread pittipatti
I think this bug might be a duplicate of bug #146692 which describes the freeze
on a Samsung Q45.
On the q45 the last message before the freeze is the ricoh-message as well,
but the freeze is caused by the module video.ko.

It would be interesting to know which graphics hardware is build into
your notebooks, since there are different versions of these notebooks
with either Intel or Nvidia graphics.

So
@ Sven and
@ Andrei:

Can you please tell if your notebook has either Intel or Nvidia-
graphics? (eg. lspci | grep VGA)

Thank you for your answer.

As far as I can see this seems to be a duplicate of bug 123920 anyway, and I'll
mark it as one.
Do you remeber if you had to peer your keyboard on the first boot with

It would still be fine if you could append your output of lsusb.

[Bug 193686] Re: nm-openvpn with preshared key doesn't work

2008-05-22 Thread pittipatti
The command-line which is executed when openvpn gets called is:

/usr/sbin/openvpn --remote routus.ip.addr --ns-cert-type server
--nobind --dev tun --proto udp --port 1194 --syslog nm-openvpn --up
/usr/lib/network-manager-openvpn/nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper --up-
restart --persist-key --persist-tun --management 127.0.0.1 1194
--management-query-passwords --secret dev --secret
/home/patrick/test.key --ifconfig 192.168.1.222 192.168.1.220

When removing the parameter --ns-cert-type server through a wrapper-
script to openvpn openvpn starts fine, but the nm-openvpn-service-
openvpn-helper complains, that it can't pull configuration data:

May 22 09:19:52 portus nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper: WARNING^I main
(): nm-openvpn-service-openvpn-helper didn't receive a VPN Gateway from
openvpn.
May 22 09:19:52 portus nm-openvpn[13076]: script failed: shell command
exited with error status: 1

after removing the --up parameter through the wrapper-script, too,
openvpn starts fine and the tunnel can be user for quite some sekonds,
but then network-manager complains:

May 22 09:24:04 portus NetworkManager: WARN
nm_vpn_service_process_signal(): VPN failed for service
'org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.openvpn', signal 'ConnectFailed', with
message 'The VPN login failed because the VPN program could not connect
to the VPN server.'.

starting openvpn from the command line with the parameters mentioned
above (without --ns-cert-type and --up) works fine.

[Bug 200210] Re: no sound after suspend with snd_hda_intel since 2.6.24-7's alsa-update to 1.0.16

2008-05-20 Thread pittipatti
Dear Guys,

bugs.launchpad.net is no user-support-forum.
If you have questions or problems *please* use an adequate forum like e.g.
https://answers.launchpad.net/

Your posts here get redirected to the developers who could spend more
time on solving bugs, if they wouldn't have to handle lots of unrelated
emails.

It is in some kind comprehensible to ask here, after some of your
keywords of your problem are mentioned here, even though the bug report
was on the ALC262 chip and not on any other like ALC883.

So, please stop this conversation here now and move to eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/

Thank you!

I asked because I'm just seeing the same issue with my N95 8GB (FW:
20.0.0.16).
Do you have the same firmware or (hopefully) an older one?

Can you please test, if you can send files from the mobile to the
hardy-system, after enabling receive files from remote hosts in the
hardy-bluetooth-dialog?

Besides of the bluetooth-console, this doesn't work either with my Nokia
but it works with an older Siemens S55 or with another hardy-system.
I think that these issues are related.

Attached you can find the hcidumps of my nokia and my siemens mobile,
when trying to send a vcard.

Apparently I can't find any information on debugging-procedures
concerning bluetooth in the ubuntu wiki.

[Bug 212790] Re: [hardy] several Fn-Keys stop working after loading kernel on Samsung Q45 laptop

2008-04-16 Thread pittipatti
No the keys don't produce acpi-events.
Instead they produce scancodes that are not recognized by the userspace (see
http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/quirk/quirk-keymap-scancodes.html)

There are two possible solutions:
1. add some lines to the file samsung.hk of the package hotkey-setup but
this seems to be deprecated
2. make the scancodes known using hal by adding them to hal-fdi-file
30-keymap-misc.fdi which is already done upstream (21hour ago ;-) ) according
to
http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=hal-info.git;a=blob;f=fdi/information/10freedesktop/30-keymap-misc.fdi

I think the second one would be the better solution, which might be
integrated automatically with the next hal-info-merge.

[Bug 212790] [NEW] [hardy] several Fn-Keys stop working after loading kernel on Samsung Q45 laptop

2008-04-06 Thread pittipatti
Public bug reported:

Hardware:
  - Samsung Notebook Q45-Aura T7100 Duke (the one with intel graphics GM965)

After loading the kernel several Fn-keys stop doing their job.
In bios-screen or grub they work fine.

When presssing these keys I get Use 'setkeycodes xxx ...' to make it
known messages in syslog.

These are in particular:
- Fn-up-arrow: e008 (brightness up)
- Fn-down-arrow: e009 (brightness down)
- Fn-F2: e003 (display battery capacity)
- Fn-F4: e002 (toggle internal/external display)
- Fn-F5: e004 (toggle lcd-baklight)
- Fn-F7: e031 (cutom-app: samsung magic-doctor)
- Fn-F8: e033 (toggle processor speed)
- Fn-F9: e006 (toggle WLAN pysicaly)

The following keys don't work but show xev-events:
- Fn-F3: euro-symbol
- Fn-F12: scroll-lock
- Fn (single press and release): show context-menu
