[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with Formatting Message after several hours

2010-08-18 Thread randomas
I am also affected by this bug. I'm running ubuntu lucid lynx 32 bit.
After I upgraded from karmic I started experiencing the bug. It seemed
to happen while opening mail in local search folders, to fix it I found
that switching to a regular account folder disabling my yahoo pop mail
account and killing evolution from terminal would let me access my mail
again at next startup. I hope the disable picture settings works cause
it's a lot less painful.

I hope this is useful towards fixing the bug, I suggest bumping the
severity of the bug up a notch, not being able to use your mail on a
desktop system built for internet use, with the default application is
bad. Considering that this is an LTS release and this is a severe
regression from karmic it really does need fixing fast.

TIA

Matt

[Bug 403585] Re: Synaptic multi touch not working on acer aspire one d150

2010-08-06 Thread randomas
Hi Gursmiran,
sorry it took me so long to answer, I didn't receive your
previous messages via mail ...
By 2 fingered middle click I mean hitting the touchpad with 2 fingers at the
same time, like one does to left click, but with 2 fingers (I think right click
is attained hitting the pad with 3 fingers).
I attached the required files, the command xinput did not recognize the option
--long on my system. The synclient file contains data of me repeatedly hitting
the pad with 2 fingers at the same time. The details of my system haven't
changed (why upgrade something that's working) and are described above.
Thank you for trying to fix this.

If you need anything else please let me know.

TIA,

Matt

[Bug 515470] Re: [GM45] i810 kernel module doesn't load since version 2.6.31-17-generic-pae or greater

2010-02-15 Thread randomas
@William, that seems to be a different error, but I'm not competent enough to
say for sure.
In my case the issue was actually with i915 not loading properly.
It turns out that i810 is actually deprecated, with a working system I still
get the i810 warning but everything is working fine.
What hardware are you running? It would be helpful if you could add bug report
documentation using apport, that way the knowledgeable people can really help
you.

[Bug 409432] Re: Screensaver should display time and allow volume control when screen is locked

2010-02-03 Thread randomas
I'd agree with you if the user were to actually click on the lock screen
option, but if it were just enabled in the screen saver, you wouldn't
want the pc to stop playing music just because you're away from the
keyboard. On the other hand if you needed to mute the volume quickly for
some reason, you couldn't because first you'd have to log back in. Which
is why I'd like to have the media hotkeys on the keyboard still
responsive, or media player controls on the screen lock widget.

[Bug 515470] [NEW] i810 kernel module doesn't load since version 2.6.31-17-generic-pae or greater

2010-02-01 Thread randomas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Since the sistem was updated to kernel 2.6.31-17-generic-pae or greater
(currently 2.6.31-18, and it is what was used to generate bug report), the
system (ubuntu karmic gnome) switched to using the vesa driver to to the i810
driver not loading.
As well as what the apport-bug generated, I've attached the relevant dmesg
section (gives errors about i915).

This is from the xorg.log

 (II) LoadModule: intel
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//intel_drv.so
(II) Module intel: vendor=X.Org Foundation
compiled for 1.6.4, module version = 2.9.0

(WW) Warning, couldn't open module i810
(II) UnloadModule: i810
(EE) Failed to load module i810 (module does not exist, 0)
(II) LoadModule: vesa

this is what I get if I try and modprobe i810 manually:

FATAL: Error inserting i810 (/lib/modules/2.6.31-18-generic-
pae/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/i810/i810.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or
unknown parameter (see dmesg)

and relevant dmesg
[ 4447.404830] i810: disagrees about version of symbol drm_core_get_reg_ofs

[ 4447.406241] i810: disagrees about version of symbol drm_core_ioremap
[ 4447.406245] i810: Unknown symbol drm_core_ioremap

At the moment the work around for this is to boot into the 2.6.31-16
kernel and everything works fine, but it does seem there's been a
regression in an update. I don't have an xorg.conf file, the system
should be able (or used to be able to) select the right settings
automagically.

Hope this is fixed soon.

[Bug 515470] Re: [GM45] i810 kernel module doesn't load since version 2.6.31-17-generic-pae or greater

2010-02-01 Thread randomas
Moritz you're probably right, most of the errors i get in dmesg are for
the i915, but I still can't quite point the finger on where the issue
is, furthermore I found that the i810 is just a warning that occurs
anyway (even when the intel card starts properly). So the problemis with
i915. Using the 16 point release of the kernel solves the problem for
me.

I'm still stumped as to what causes it though.

I rebooted into the non working kernel and using: lsmod|grep -E
'[[:blank:]]i[0-9]+'
I got nothing, so that confirms it.
When I use that command and the x-server is working properly I get the same out
put as Moritz.
The results of dmesg|grep i915 are attached.

I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and still haven't managed to get nvidia drivers
working neither the 185 version in the distro nor the 190 and 195 from

no luck. The only result I get is a black screen with some white garble

Thanks!

[Bug 403585] Re: Synaptic multi touch not working on acer aspire one d150

2009-07-27 Thread randomas
I'm on UNR 9.04 xserver-xorg-input-synaptics version is 0.99.3-2ubuntu5.
I'm running a 2.6.30 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/ to solve sound issues.

I own a AAO D150-1b. I just assumed that the touchpad was multi cause I
tested it in win XP and will even accept gestures.

I sort of gathered that SHMConfig might have been going the way of the
Dodo, but I didn't manage to find a better solution.

I hope you can help me.

[Bug 403585] [NEW] Synaptic multi touch not working on acer aspire one d150

2009-07-23 Thread randomas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

I followed the wiki to enable shmconfig, and running synclient -m 100
the value under f (number of fingers) is always 1 weather I use one, two

even pinch gestures working. I'd be happy just to get 2 fingered middle

[Bug 99626] Re: deskbar-applet does not display folders in live search results (with Files+Folders+Places or Beagle Live (or both) enabled)

2007-04-24 Thread randomas
I'm using meta-tracker in Feisty and I'm having the same problem (as
well as the annoying start-up crash).

[Bug 40907] Re: Cannot connect to the MSN servers

2007-01-31 Thread randomas
Found same problem in dapper, an update for the package would be appreciated.
Using the svn snapshot works.

[Bug 37972] Re: f-spot cannot import images imported and automatically rotated with gnome-volume-manager-gthum

2007-01-30 Thread randomas
This issue still seams not to have been fixed. I'm still sufferning from
it in Dapper.

Is there a procedure to be followed to fix this? I.e. a way to display
the immages imported into F-spot's directories that aren't being
visualised.

Any news?
TIA
