Thanks for your tip so much. Now my Ubuntu can see wireless networks, however
it never connects to them. It keeps asking for the password forever and doesn't
connect at all, does anyone know a solution for this, I would be grateful if
anyone could help.
Thanks

[Bug 1193205] Re: dhcp IPv6 sets accept_ra to 0 and doesn't get IPv6 route

2013-10-07 Thread rm
As a side note: if you accept the RAs, you will not only get the
missing routes, but also the SLAAC addresses. So this is not anymore the
Automatic (DHCP only) option as advertised.

If this is not what you want, you should simply set

echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/ethX/accept_ra
echo 0 /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/ethX/autoconf

But not disable accept_ra entirely.

I think adding the static-routes option my help a lot in this regard.

No. The default route will come over RA in most real-world
configurations. It is wrong to disable accept_ra with DHCPv6 only.

[Bug 1075050]

2013-10-05 Thread Rm-riches
Ilia, would you please point me toward where I can find out what kernel version
contains the rewrite(s) of this module that may solve the problem with the
ENGTX560 DC/2DI/1GD5 card? I Googled for changelog and release notes for
Nouveau, but I came up empty. Thanks.

[Bug 1075050]

2013-10-01 Thread Rm-riches
I won't be able to test a newer kernel for the symptoms I observed,
because I don't have a system available to install a release with a
newer kernel. However, please don't take that as reason to disqualify
this report. I'm a minor late arrival at this party. It's not clear
whether the issue I mentioned with kernel 3.3.8-desktop-2.mga2 on Mageia
2 is consistent with the original symptoms reported here. My symptoms
should probably be reported separately, if I could afford the time to do
that. Hopefully, the earlier reporters can test with a newer kernel.

[Bug 575296] Re: Ubuntu boot delay - nForce error

2011-01-17 Thread rm
I see these entries in kern.log:

Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.604867] udev: starting version 151
Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.941637] i2c i2c-0: nForce2 SMBus adapter at

Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.941655] ACPI: resource nForce2_smbus
[0x4e00-0x4e3f] conflicts with ACPI region SM00 [0x4e00-0x4e3f]
Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.941663] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available
for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver
Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.941671] nForce2_smbus :00:03.2: Error
probing SMB2.
Jan 17 07:41:02 ion kernel: [2.944484] lp: driver loaded but no devices
found

The ...Error probing SMB2 message appears during boot with a long pause.

The system is Zotac ionitx-a-u atom n330 based.

uname -a says:
Linux ion 2.6.32-27-generic-pae #49-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 00:07:52 UTC 2010 i686
GNU/Linux

Also kernel tainting nvidia driver:
NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 195.36.24

Since these issues seem to be hardware monitoring related, I wonder if
the proprietary nvidia driver is a common theme as there is a
temperature readout in the application System - Administration -
Nvidia X Server Settings under GPU xxx - Thermal Settings. Maybe this
application is fighting over the hardware sensors?

[Bug 151971] Live CD 7.04 invalid compressed format (err=1)

2007-10-12 Thread rm
Public bug reported:

Live CD Ubuntu 7.04 shipped from Canonical.

Thinkpad 600X, 500Mhz, over .5 GB RAM, runs XP ok (ackkkppphhhttt!)

Boot from CD and see menu:

- RAM tests good (6 hours worth of test)
- any other menu selection results in

Loading casper/vmlinuxz
loading initrd.gz
screen cleared
[time.stamp] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is required
to enable ACPI
[time.stamp] invalid compressed format (err=1)
[time.stamp] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block(1,0)
[time.stamp]

and that's it

Same result on a Thinkpad 600E.
Same result with Xbuntu 6.10 except ACPI message not displayed.
7.04 CD boots Ubuntu ok on Acer 5610z.
6.10 previously used to install on HP 7935c.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
