Rasty, Indeed you are right. I tried the weak you mentioned and it works, however I noticed that the icon only shows on 1 display when using 2 monitors. [Bug 756611] Re: autokey fails to show tray icon in when launched in unity 11.04 desktop
Lonnie, I still use Autokey in 11.04 default Unity desktop because it's still running in the background and functions normally. The hotkey Ctrl-K still brings up the Autokey window and all the hotkeys I have defined still function ok. The only downside is that the tray icon/applet is missing. Also, just logging out and back in again still leaves autokey running in the background. You either need to reboot or kill the autokey process before you log off, using either 'killall autokey-qt' or 'killall autokey-gtk' depending on which one you launched in the first place. Give 11.04 a go. I reckon it's the best version yet. And I've really got the hang of Unity which seems so much more efficient with all the keyboard shortcuts. I am the envy of my work friends who use W7 and who all suffer from appalling LAN and USB transfer speeds - Ubuntu kills 7. [Bug 756611] Re: autokey fails to show tray icon in when launched in unity 11.04 desktop
After posting this bug I realised with more testing of the 11.04 Unity desktop I realised that there were more applications which when run in 10.10 or even 11.04 Classic have panel/tray icons but are missing in the Unity interface, such as Remmina. This got me thinking that with the possibility of many Gnome apps that use tray icons may be in the process of being re-worked for Unity. So here's my question. [Bug 178442] Re: Pulseaudio fails to initialize ICE17xx chipsets
Well for some reason my pulseaudio sound just stopped a couple of days ago. Not sure why it stopped, so I revisited my old post (#96) to get my workaround for my (ICE1712 - Hoontech STA DSP24 Media 7.1) card working again under Maverick but the alsa mod didn't work. So I read further and a couple of posts caught my attention. I now have to agree with #112 and #113 in tweaking pulseaudio rather than alsa. Using Jack and apps like Hydrogen, Rosegarden all work fine with my card as Jack is not using pulse. So, I tried the solution at #52 as suggested but used the via- ice1712.conf direct from PulseAudio ticket #624 here: http://pulseaudio.org/ticket/624 (rather than the one at #53) and rebooted and now confirm that pulse is working even better than using the previous ALSA mod for me. I now have additional outputs to select in sound preferences and there are now sliders to control 'balance', 'fader', and 'subwoofer' which were never there before. -- Pulseaudio fails to initialize ICE17xx chipsets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

sevensbr, I now have 1280 x 1024 running under 19-generic with nvidia-glx-new restricted drivers enabled and compiz desktop setting turned on as well. I can't quite remember exactly how I got in running but I did do these steps. * Installed package nvidia-settings from Synaptic * Installed package envyng-gtk from synaptic * Ran EnvyNG from the System Tools Menu, clicked on NVIDIA and selected Install the NVIDIA driver (Automatic Hardware detection). This downloads the latest NVIDIA driver and removed my installed package nvidia-glx-new. * I rebooted - I think I got high graphics back but I couldn't enable desktop effects. * Then I went into nvidia-settings but you need to run this as root from the command line so -> sudo nvidia-settings * Then I selected X Server Display Configuration which showed me my monitor and resolution I was running. * Then I clicked on Save to X Configuration File (I don't why I did this but it seemed like a good idea at the time). * I rebooted and noticed now a big NVIDIA splash screen just before login * I think then I could enable desktoip effects even though Hardware Drivers wasn't enabled in command --> jockey-gtk (and I think this driver listed here is the nvidia-glx-new not the new one downloaded and installed by EnvyNG) * I wanted to see if I could get the standard drivers running so I used EnvyNG to uninstall the driver. * I then removed all the packages downloaded and no longer required by EnvyNG using --> sudo apt-get autoremove * Rebooted (and forgive me but I'm not exactly sure of my steps after this) * Re-installed the standard NVIDIA drivers by enabling the Nvidia device driver in --> jockey-gtk * Rebooted again * Went back into --> sudo nvidia-settings * selected X Server Display Configuration, clicked on Save to X Configuration File * then ran --> sudo nvidia-xconfig * then ran --> sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg (this command is listed in the comments of the original xorg.conf file) I am not sure exactly what I have done here but some of these commands I found in ubuntuforums.org and here in lanchpad so I tried everything. I think this bug is solved for me. The solution for me was to not use the front USB ports on the front of the case but instead plug my ipod into one of the usb ports on the back of the case which are directly mounted on the motherboard. I recently noticed that my USB 2 flash drive (memory stick) wont mount either now that I've upgraded to Hardy where previously this did in 7.04. This might sound like a silly question but why isn't this bug going to be fixed given that it has existed since the kernel 2.6.20 and is still present in the latest kernel shipped with Hardy which is 2.6.24-16? [Bug 158963] Error sending username to pop3 server with pop3 account enabled for automatic mail checking
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I have 2 pop3 email accounts configured to automatically check email every 10 minutes. When Evolution starts I get this error message for each pop3 account prompting for the password. "Unable to connect to POP server pop3.iprimus.com.au. Error sending username: Please enter the POP password for mypop3username on host pop3.iprimus.com.au" If you cancel this message and click on the 'Send/Receive' button email is sent and received ok as I have tried sending test messages. [Bug 106772] Re: Errors in Amarok's .po file cause issues with unparsed HTML
Thanks this fixed me too. Also in Australia. I noticed that I had to log off and on again for the change to take effect though. I also noticed this setting in ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and wondered if it would help?? I changed mine from 0 to 1. See if anyone else finds this works too... [Bug 126136] Re: Gstreamer error while importing songs from ipod
Thank you for replying to me. As you have probably guessed I am new to Ubuntu and in fact Linux. Up until 4 weeks ago I have only ever used Windows and IBM As400's. I have never logged a bug for an open source operating system before but I have logged plenty for proprietary systems like the AS400. Being new to Linux and the fact that it is all unfamiliar and new I am a little lost when it comes to finding out details to help with solving Ubuntu problems. Since logging the bug I have been reading the Ubuntu formus and searching through Google and have since discovered quite a few things about iPods and Ububtu. One thing I discovered was that my iPod was mounted read-only which was I know was causing Rhythmbox to do all sorts of strange things and basically not work as I would have expected. The mp3 files I found with extra 6 characters after .mp3 as it turned out were duplicates of the real mp3 files in some folders in my library. I deleted these mp3xx files and reloaded Rhythmbox and all was ok. And I haven't had a problem since then. PS. By the way I think Ubuntu is my new passion and I love it. -- Gstreamer error while importing songs from ipod https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/126136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 126136] Gstreamer error while importing songs from ipod
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When importing songs from my ipod into the library using copy-paste a number of import errors appear which I have been able to reproduce as I have tried this twice. There are a number of "Error while saving song information. Internal GStreamer problem." dialog boxes that appear during the import process. In the import errors section there are many entries saying "Couldn't access file:///mnt/windows-itunes/itunes/[artist_name}/{album_name}/{song_name}.mp3B78D11:File Not Found" Each different song seems to have 6 characters after the .mp3 that seems to have come from the ipod but for some reason the file name has not been created properly.
