Re: [Bug 583902] Re: X crashes minutes after resuming from suspend to RAM
Hi I tried this proposed kernel but it does not work properly on my computer for now. ro...@roger-laptop:~$ uname -r 2.6.34-997-generic Once started with the option drm.debug=0x02 after quiet splash, I have 68 instances of udevd-daemon running with a plane noise. Wether I kill udevd or not, suspend to RAM is not working (It suspends and two seconds later, it's back). So, I stopped it. Sorry for that. I have another kernel 2.6.34 which is working properly (with the same bug), do you want me to try with it? Roger 2010/6/4 Stenten sten...@gmail.com Please try the drm-intel-next mainline kernel here [1]. Download and install the _all headers, i386 headers, and i386 image. Then boot into that kernel with 'drm.debug=0x02' in the grub kernel line after 'quiet splash'. Then see if you can reproduce a crash where you can switch to a TTY with Ctrl+Alt+F1. Login and then take a copy of these three files: cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state i915_error_state.txt cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log Xorg.0.log.txt dmesg dmesg.txt Then try restarting X by running 'startx'. If you can't switch to a TTY no matter how many times you reproduce, upload your kern.log file after you recover, noting the exact date/time the crash occurred. Hi A quick first reply, another one later, probably this afternoon. In joint attachment two texts. The second one is a copy of my terminal. I'll check this afternoon without Compiz. Roger 2010/6/3 Stenten sten...@gmail.com Thank you; Apport worked correctly that time. When the screen blacks out again, can you: 1) Toggle the Capslock light? 2) Switch to a virtual terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F1? 3) Logout with Ctrl+Alt+Del? 4) REISUB? (Hold down Alt+SysRq and press, in this order, r, e, i, s, u, and b. This should safely reboot your system.) After you recover your system, please run cat /var/log/kern.log kern.log.txt cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old Xorg.0.log.old.txt (If you don't have to reboot your system, use 'Xorg.0.log instead of 'Xorg.0.log.old'.) [Bug 539609] Re: i915.powersave causes hangs particularly following suspend/resume on i945 and older cards
6th of May 2010 For me, this bug has not, repeat NOT, been solved. I use a Toshiba A80 laptop with a i915 graphic card. My Ubuntu experience with it is not too good... - Jaunty: faulty driver release, after some weeks, I downgraded to driver 2.4 - Karmic: computer can't be used for suspend to RAM during the full time of this release, i.e. six months - Lucid: the same (one week). I have now the normal kernel 2.6.32.22.23 and, after resume, I always experience a freeze between 10 minutes to 40 minutes. Sometimes, I am informed that I must switch to low resolution mode, sometimes it's just a black screen... I've upgraded to kernel 2.6.33.3 but I've the same result. This bug has NOT been solved. I wrote a bug report some days ago and have been told that my bug is the same than the one reported here. [Bug 246172] [NEW] Hardy : suspend and hibernate fail on resume.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pm-utils Hardy : problem with suspend and hibernate on a Toshiba laptop. The arrival of pm-utils, included with Hardy, has been for my computer a disaster. I use Hardy 8.04.1 I own a laptop Toshiba A80, with Pentium M and Intel 915 (I think it's a i810 driver) and Centrino. No fancy cards. Suspend and hibernate have been working with Dapper, Edgy, Feisty and Gutsy. I still keep, if need be, a full disk image of my Gutsy. Hardy is working perfectly well except for these following pm-utils related matters . - using button Arrêter (Stop), shutdown nearly completes. Arrived nearly at the end, the process hangs. I have to use Ctrl Alt Del two times to stop my computer. - using button Mettre en veille (suspend to RAM) suspend the computer like usual. But I cannot resume : all I get is a black screen and a blinking cursor. I need to start again by hard reset. - The same happens for button Hiberner (hibernate) where it's just impossible to resume and I have to start again the computer. - When using the button redemarrer (start again), it dutifully stops but cannot start again by its own. To finish, I do not know if it's related, when starting the computer I have a brand new error message telling me Intel_rng : FWH not detected. A bug of this kind had been reorted before but I saw no solution. It's not a hardware failure because when I install again Gutsy, this message does not appear. It's related to Hardy. I am ready to give you all my help. I know for experience that suspend and hibernate can work pretty well on my computer. I still have a working XP (dual boot) for this matter. pm-utils 0.99.2-3ubuntu 10 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 8.04.1 ** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy : suspend and hibernate fail on resume. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 70885] streaming video does not work (Totem)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem-mozilla Bonjour, I use Edgy. With Dapper and Firefox 1.5, video-streaming with Mplayer was OK. Now, with Edgy I MUST use Totem for streaming, because totem-mozilla plugin is tied to ubuntu-desktop. And, Totem does not work for streaming. I use now FF 2.0. I know, ubuntu-desktop is only a meta- package, but in the medium term it is better to keep it running, if only for update and upgrades. I think the best would be to , somewhat, untie the totem-mozilla plugin from ubuntu-desktop, and leave the user the choice of his streaming software. Please understand this is NOT a codecs-related problem, I just wish to be able to get rid of an unwanted plugin in my preferred distro. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- streaming video does not work (Totem) https://launchpad.net/bugs/70885 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
