[Bug 1788997] Re: rtl8723be wifi does not work under linux-modules-extra-4.15.0-33-generic
I guess folk like myself who upgraded to Cosmic and 4.18 have a working wifi with ant_sel=1. Bionic has the problem, ironically given that it is LTS. BTW, I suspect there are other issues with the rtl8723be under 4.18 - my connection stalls after a while, until modprobe -r && modprobe then all is well again -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1788997 Title: rtl8723be wifi does not work under linux-modules- extra-4.15.0-33-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1788997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1788997] Re: rtl8723be wifi does not work under linux-modules-extra-4.15.0-33-generic
Tested bionic-proposed kernel 4.15.0-38.41. There now is no difference between ant_sel=0,1,or 2 BUT compared to 4.15.0-32 ant_sel=2, the reception is 70% as opposed to 100%. [Bug 1475895] Re: Camera froze taking picture and would no longer show a preview
Testing the fix released for Bug #1519766 (and likely #1478693) I can reliably freeze the camera-app (v. 3.0.0.616) on rc-proposed Arale r227 by taking HDR images. Freeze happens around the 3rd or 4th shot of the same subject as reported in Bug #1519766. HDR shots of shaded lamp in semi-dark room (taking up 3/4 of view) trigger freeze on 4/5th shot. HDR shots of lamp on small table at distance in semi-dark room do not reliably trigger freeze. Normal shots do not trigger freeze, with or without zoom AFAIKS. Freeze comprises either the viewfinder holding the image of the attempted capture and app being no longer responsive and needing to be closed. Re-opening produces "Cannot access camera" error message screen, with access permission or some other error as cause. Reboot needed to regain camera function. Other freeze seen was a return of the viewfinder to a dark screen, and the same error message screen appearing. Original reporter did not mention HDR, so I defer to better judgement as to where this bug belongs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475895 Title: Camera froze taking picture and would no longer show a preview To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1475895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1519766] [NEW] HDR fail on patterned high contrast image
Public bug reported: Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Touch rc-proposed r178 camera app v. 3.0.0.604 Background: I was taking general forest shots successfully and then tried a close-up of a frost dusted spider web. Capture animation displayed but nothing got shown in Photo Roll aside of the Ubuntu spinner. General shots still succeeded. This happened twice in field, second time with frost dusted, repetitively patterned moss. This was version v3.0.0.595. Reproduction: place black mosquito net over back-lighted opaque perspex and photograph from 15-20 cm distance (see attachment), with HDR function enabled and phone held steady. Expected outcome: image captured. Actual outcome: no image shown in Photo Roll. .Jpeg image file is present in Pictures but corrupt (see attachment), even if viewed on PC. For me, this result is invariable with my test image setup. It appears that regularly patterned, high contrast scenes cause the HDR routine to "choke". A few months back I saw this with HDR in a high contrast general scene without realising what caused it. Note, camera shake under HDR results in captured image. [Bug 387978] Re: KMS leads to i915 Xorg/ system hang on boot
This bug was reported as requested by Bryce(?) in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/KernelModeSetting. I updated it for the 2.6.30-10-generic kernel before learning that KMS was enabled by default and that i915 drivers were blacklisted for this mode, as indeed KMS does not work on Intel 855GM [8086:3582] and 2.6.30-8-generic kernels. Xorg is now upgraded to exploit the mode. 2.6.30-10-generic kernels should now boot fine in terms of KMS. Problems are likely something else (see Karmic forum). A pity we lost kms but there you ae -- KMS leads to i915 Xorg/ system hang on boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387978 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 387978] [NEW] KMS leads to i915 Xorg/ system hang on boot
Public bug reported: Karmic Testing. xserver-xorg-core: 2:1.6.1.901-2ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-intel: 2:2.7.99.901+git20090615.3da549f5-0ubuntu0sarvatt kernel: 2.6.30-9-generic Intel 855 [8086:3582] (rev 02) Enabling KMS via either options i915 modeset=1 in /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf or modprobe i915 modeset=1, /etc/init.d/gdm start leads to a system-wide freeze (hard-off or SysReq B (only that key works)). Mode change apparent in console. Testing shows that hang starts at X startup. No debugging obtained yet locally or by remote (many tries) and nothing entered in logs, but binary and misplaced text is injected into messages and other logs. Works fine without KMS. NOTE: kernel: 2.6.30-8-generic works fine. [Bug 206470] [NEW] udev - wrong permissions in udev rules for usb camera
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev OS: Hardy (fully updated) Package: udev 117-4ubuntu1 Actions: plug in Canon D-Ixus 400 to usb port, switch camera on. lsusb confirms camera found. Result: (f-prot does not run automatically) A manual run of f-prot cannot find camera, with message cannot claim usb Workarounds: 1) (f-prot segfaults when run as sudo) At CLI sudo gtkam results in camera being correctly read. 2) Edit /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules - replace: SUBSYSTEM==usb, ENV{DEVTYPE}==usb_device, MODE=0664 SUBSYSTEM==usb_device,MODE=0664 with SUBSYSTEM==usb, ENV{DEVTYPE}==usb_device, GROUP=plugdev SUBSYSTEM==usb_device,GROUP=plugdev f-prot now finds camera (tho' still does not run automatically upon inserting camera). [Bug 203773] [NEW] pm-hibernate fails unless preceded by pm-suspend
Public bug reported: OS: Hardy (updated as of submission date / time) Symptoms on Fujitsu Siemns Lifebook s7010 (no additions/changes), 512 RAM, 75% of hd free. Fresh boot. Using hibernate in gnome power button (g-p-b) leads to partial off (looks like a suspend to RAM on mini LCD panel but cursor blinking on display). Will not switch on at power button and requires hard-off. Fresh boot. Use suspend option in g-p-b. Successful. Resume and then try hibernate. Successful. (ttys via c+a F1 etc however no longer display, showing a blank g-p-b rectangle in each) Test cases: Fresh boot. At CLI run pm-hibernate. Failure. Fresh boot. At CLI run pm-suspend. Succesful. Resume. Run pm-hibernate. Succesful. (No surprise as HArdy uses pm-utils. But ...). Significant test: Fresh boot. At CLI run /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh.
