[Bug 211906] Re: package mysql-server 5.0.51a-3ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

I had the same problem when doing: 
# mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &

Actually everything started when I lost my root password for mysql, I
did followed this link http://lists.mysql.com/mysql/171366  and make a
mess out of my MYSQL, so beware!

I think I'll use this other one in the future in case I lost it again:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html#resetting-permissions-unix

But I still cannot reinstall mysql to work on Ubuntu 8.04, what should I
do?
