I guess it's assign to the wrong package. I tried the nouveau driver instead of the nvidia driver and the problem still exists. I think that means that the window manager is to blame for this and not the video driver. So in theory people with other cards/drivers should have the same problem. I have the same problem Alex described. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with nvidia driver version 177 and 180, with and without compiz.
