this problem affected me in ubuntu beta1 10.04
i installed 9.04 and upgraded using update-manager -d
installed virtualbox and now it show this error..

Now with newer 9.10 laptop lid works very well. Dunno if is interrupt control changed but now i've solved. Could this actually be a hardware issue? Key codes different somehow? (I see a lot of HP users are affected...) I know for a fact that power management CAN work on this machine (it used to host an XP, you know...)
