[Bug 332421] Re: KDE 4.2 (kwin) causes a segfault in X

2009-02-22 Thread sagarp
Ah I found a workaround. I commented out the BackingStore option in my
xorg.conf device section, and all is well.

[Bug 332421] [NEW] KDE 4.2 causes a segfault in X

2009-02-21 Thread sagarp
Public bug reported:

I installed KDE 4.2 from the kbuntu.org ppa (http://ppa.launchpad.net
/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu). When I try to use it, however, it crashes
fairly soon after logging in. This happens at various times. One of the
times is when I click on a menu bar item. Xorg.log.old has the following
messages toward the end. There are a bunch of lines that look like X is
trying to guess my keyboard/mouse hardware, and then this:

+
+ EDIT: I think I narrowed the problem down to being in kwin. I can run
+ KDE apps just fine in gnome, unless I replace compiz with kwin (in
+ gnome). Then I get the same crash problem.

[Bug 247088] Re: expo allows bypass of screensaver

2008-12-08 Thread sagarp
sorry, i had fixed it by downgrading at the time, but then i forgot
about it. now it seems like i'm running the latest version
(0.7.8-0ubuntu2.1) and i no longer get random crashes. if it happens
again, i'll post steps to reproducing the problem.

[Bug 247088] Re: expo allows bypass of screensaver

2008-11-27 Thread sagarp
hello,
i mentioned this before in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz-fusion-plugins-main/+bug/247088/comments/8
but i wasn't sure if that seg fault was due to the new package. however, i'm
now getting a seg fault on my laptop as well after updating to 0.7.8-0ubuntu2.1
from intrepid-proposed. here is the line in dmesg, although i'm not sure if
this is helpful at all.

compiz.real[7009]: segfault at 220 ip 004233e7 sp

thanks michael, your change appears to have fixed it for me. i can no
longer activate expo while the screensaver is active. i'll be sure to
post again if i find any regressions or general bugginess.

[Bug 247088] Re: expo allows bypass of screensaver

2008-11-21 Thread sagarp
hmm i'm not sure if this is related to your fix, but compiz has been
segfaulting on my box. compiz crashes and gets replaced by metacity.
then everything is fine until i do an alt+tab (in metacity) and suddenly
X crashes. dmesg shows this line:

compiz.real[7849]: segfault at 1a0 ip 08069d8d sp bfa33fe0 error 4 in
compiz.real[8048000+34000]

i'm not sure how to get any more info from it.

[Bug 160866] Re: Hue color Contrast way off on Video apps.

2008-04-06 Thread sagarp
i get the same problem in all video players (totem, vlc, mplayer, even
tvtime!). i've managed to fix the problem in vlc by changing the output
from xvideo to X11 and mplayer works fine if i use gmplayer
instead. with normal mplayer, i get this message when i play a video:

VO: [xv] 480x360 = 480x360 Planar YV12

however, with gmplayer (which has normal color) i get this message:

VO: [x11] 480x360 = 480x360 Planar YV12
[swscaler @ 0x8934890]SwScaler: using unscaled yuv420p - rgb32 special
converter

i guess gmplayer uses X11. perhaps that 2nd line is X11 output? this
started happening suddenly. i was watching TV in tvtime, and then
suddenly the colors changed. i think it was possibly just after i
installed some codecs in totem.
