[Bug 1576909] Re: [Acer Aspire V3-472G] Suspend not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-08-22 Thread saguti
I couldn't continue the testing in 16.04 thus I had to rollback to
14.04, where suspend works flawlessly

Understood Christopher. However, the bisection procedure that you
suggested me to do last time was not clear to me. Could you provide me
further indications about how to proceed?

2016-07-04 Thread saguti
Hello Christopher.

I had to replace the HD of my notebook as the previous one failed. I
replaced by a SSD, and it looks like the problem still persists. Should
I update the information of my hardware in order to continue the
debugging process?

[Bug 1576909] Re: Suspend not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-06-11 Thread saguti
I mean, the driver was indeed installed when I first reported the bug.
But when started to try the upstream kernels it was uninstalled. In the
recent test with 4.7.2 kernel the driver is no longer installed.

Thus, should I update the initial information of the bug?

Hello.

Tested with Kernel 4.6.2-040602-generic. The problem happens when
closing the laptop lid. As mentioned, the screen goes black, but disks

[Bug 1576909] Re: Suspend not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-06-08 Thread saguti
Hi.

Tested with 4.7.0-040700rc2-generic. I tested the suspend even from the
login screen (Before logging in), and the third time I tried to suspend,
the screen goes black but disks and fans are still working and system
does not go to suspension. It requires a hard reset.

[Bug 1576909] Re: Suspend and hibernate not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-05 Thread saguti
After testing, suspend seems to work fine but hibernate fails. When
computer restarts, it fails to restart hibernation image. Also, it boots
and detects errors at root filesystem, thus executing fsck

# dmesg | grep -i hiber
[2.142409] PM: Checking hibernation image partition
UUID=93ec1eec-dc0c-4ac4-9b06-b2d3cca2a8da
[2.142411] PM: Hibernation image not present or could not be loaded.

[Bug 1576909] [NEW] Suspend and hibernate not working on Ubuntu 16.04

2016-04-29 Thread saguti
Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 on an Acer Aspire V3-472G with Nvidia Geforce
840M graphic cards, proprietary driver.

None of the options for suspend or hibernate is working. The process of
suspend or hibernate works fine but when the computer is waken, screen
stays black and computer becomes unresponsive.

Installation of packets such as hibernate and/or uswsusp create a bigger
problem as the computer freezes during boot process.
