[Bug 1927100] [NEW] Slow file dialogs, open and save

2021-05-04 Thread sam tygier
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu Mate 20.04.

Sometime the Open and Save dialogs in GTK applications will over 20
seconds to display.

I found https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/485 , which
suggested this due to gvfsd-trash, and running `killall gvfsd-trash`
which does temporary solve the problem.

The issue is apparently fixed in gvfs 1.46.2

Please could 1.46.2 or the fix
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/merge_requests/96 be backported to
Ubuntu 20.04

[Bug 1733065] [NEW] sound juicer making corrupt flac files

2017-11-18 Thread sam tygier
Public bug reported:

With several CDs sound juicer is producing flac files with corrupt
metadata. The files will play in rhythmbox, but do not have any
metadata. (Sound juicer is picking up the metadata, as it names the
files correctly).

The test mode in the flac command shows a range of errors.

$ flac --test *.flac

Yes, I am using xenial 16.04 (I made a typo in the description). So its
because the raspberrypi version ships with an older 4.1.19-v7 kernel in

[Bug 1603157] Re: closing a tab while browsing results in closing browsing completely

2016-08-11 Thread sam tygier
I see this also on BQ M10 including on OTA-12 current rc-proposed. There
is no reliable to way to reproduce that I can find, but if I open
multiple tabs and then close 1 of them there is a chance that it closes
the whole browser. I don't think the browser is crashing, because I
don't see crash reports listed that correspond.

This is also mentioned in #1595348

[Bug 1433310] [NEW] Installer stuck at Force UEFI installation dialog

2015-03-17 Thread sam tygier
Public bug reported:

I am installing from the Ubuntu MATE beta image (ubiquity 2.21.13) on to
a lenovo x230 with a completely blank disk.

I selected manual partitioning, created a swap, efi partition and a
btrfs root partition. After OKing this I get a dialog titled Force UEFI
installation, see attached screen shot. The Go Back and Continue
buttons click, but nothing happens. There is no way to close the dialog.

There is an existing old Bug #412647 . Not sure if this would be
considered a dupe of the old one, as this is just specifically asking
for a build option change. but fixing this would fix #412647.

[Bug 412647] Re: Firefox is not able to play mp4 video tags

2012-09-07 Thread sam tygier
5. Given the Ubuntu commitment to free software, do we really want to
enable support for other codecs other than the officially supported free
ones?

building with gstreamer does not in itself allow firefox to play h264.
it means that firefox can use the gstreamer codecs that you can install.
this work equivient to rhythmbox, banshee, totem etc, where codec
support is expandable by installing new gstreamer codecs.

If there is a desire to prevent firefox supporting non-free formats then
its plugin support would need to be disabled so that it can't use flash
or realplayer.

it seems. The html5-preview on youtube.com

  safari and epiphany-webkit.

Please make firefox able to install video codecs or use the ones avaible
  through gstreamer.
+
+ As of firefox 14, gstreamer support can be enabled with --enable-
+ gstreamer. If the required gstreamer codecs are install then firerfox
+ can play H.264 in a video tag.

[Bug 973761] Re: Liferea 1.8.3 in Ubuntu 12.04 [beta2] shows false unread count

2012-07-10 Thread sam tygier
do you have any conversion filters on any of the feeds? I had one which
was broken (it pointed to a script that did not exist anymore). removing
this seems to have fixed the unread folder.

[Bug 28639] Re: Asterisks insists to use native mpg123, not wrapper mpg123 of mpg321.

2012-04-15 Thread sam tygier
I am reverting the changes by alaa arbash (shabah-xp) because it seems
rather odd to change the package to something that seem to me unrelated,
with no comment.

** Package changed: ogamesim (Ubuntu) = mpg123 (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: mpg123 (Ubuntu)
   Status: Fix Committed = Invalid
