[Bug 1683594] Re: Permission denied /var/lib/openstack-dashboard/secret_key

2017-07-10 Thread Sammy
@robcresswell - The bug / fix you make mention of in [1] deals with the
message logged with the file in question has the wrong permissions (as I
read it, it needs to be 0600).

The original issue presented, however, has to do with the wrongful file
ownership as the horizon package installs: it leaves ownership as root,
rather than www-data.www-data like it ought to be-

Could you please reference the bug dealing with this wrongful file
ownership issue, or otherwise open such a bug for this matter to be
fixed.

Thank you very much for your effort, and dedication.

Best regards,
SammyV

[Bug 858913] Re: Can´ t drag from browser to the desktop.

2012-09-19 Thread Sammy Dellicour
I would also have the default behavior being downloading the image (like it
used to be), instead of having to press Control.
But I was wondering if this was a Firefox feature/bug or a Nautilus one...

[Bug 937433] Re: drag and drop image to desktop or nautilus does not save image, only links to image

2012-09-19 Thread Sammy Dellicour
Dragging an image will create a link. Dragging while holding the Control key
will download the file.
Is this a conscious change in behavior or a bug?
I would prefer the old behavior of dragging an image to download (without
Control key).

[Bug 385335] Re: gnome-font-viewer default text not visible in all fonts

2012-09-18 Thread Sammy Dellicour
I would also like to change the default text - so it is a feature request,
rather than a bug.
I often use fonts for french texts (which has characters like éàç etc), and
being able to change the default text to add these characters would allow me to
immediately see if a font contains these characters or not, before installing.
Thank you.

[Bug 331222] Re: quite a few asian mirrors malfunctioning

2012-03-14 Thread Sammy Fung
I agree with Alexander List.

I love to have a local mirror server resides in Chinese University of
Hong Kong (CUHK) to host different famous Linux/FOSS projects,
unfortunally I still didn't receive any replies from CUHK yet.

HKIX (at CUHK) is the key internet exchange for local traffic, and it
also connected to HARNET which is a academic network connected to other
academic institutions in other asian countries.

so, free.nchc.org.tw and ftp.twaren.net are different servers, but they
are also hosted at Academia Sinica, Taiwan with the direct link to HKIX.

[Bug 630312] Re: alacarte crashed with IOError in on_edit_properties_activate()

2010-09-06 Thread Sammy Brence
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 355829 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355829

the Bug That you are referring too was last looked at in 2009. Which im
sure that bug is no longer valid. This Bug is in reference to version
10.10 Beta 1.

So either someone needs to update bug 355829 to say this is a new bug
again and blow the dust off it. or we need to establish something for
10.10.

when I put this up I saw bug 355829 Which has had no activity since
early 2009. Which at the time 10.10 wasn't even released yet.

Also Id like to note that I just loaded this on my other desktop PC.
and I can reproduce the same issue. You cant edit any Menu items at all
in 10.10 Beta 1.

[Bug 574504] Re: Regression, system does not capture sound from microphone

2010-05-06 Thread Sammy
I had exactly the same problem (Samsung, HDA ATI SB, Realtek ALC262,
microphone not working) and the same solution (worked after reboot). I
suppose there are more people struggling with this problem (e.g.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9245616). HOW did you figure it
out? Thanks a lot!

[Bug 463009] [NEW] Connecting to internet

2009-10-28 Thread sammy
Public bug reported:

I bought my wife a Dell mini for Christmas last year and I have been
trying to mess around with it. I logged on and she had something like
250 updates so I connected to my wireless network and started
downloading them. This is where the problem began, it stopped
dowloading gave me some error messages, and I havent been able to
connect to the internet since. I have been trying to find a solution
for about 4 hours on the internet but I am just getting more lost. I am
a windows user so I am not that familiar with the Ubuntu system. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 311716 ***

I installed the test kernel from the following source and it fixed the
problem:

I imagine those fixes will be moved to the mainline kernel at some stage
soon. Using the one above will give you a fix for the meantime.

[Bug 282081] Re: [i965] X hangs and not recoverable after screen saving or logout/login on Dell Hybrid Studio

2009-01-07 Thread Sammy Spets
Thank you Bryce for giving this bug some attention. My experience with
system level coding tells me the problem smacks of a race condition when
switching desktops. I've turned off compiz and have run the system for
11 days non-stop with screen locking and full-screen windows all over
the place.

Compiz must be exacerbating the race condition by slowing things down
with the animations. Same thing with heavy loads like OpenGL (especially
with the low frame-rate witnessed on hardy).

[Bug 282081] Re: X hangs and not recoverable after screen saving or logout/login with intel 965gm

2008-12-10 Thread Sammy Spets
I have the same issue on Intrepid with GM965/GL960 (X3100) hardware and
blank screen saver. I manage to get this bug happening when I lock the
screen.

Compiz appears to have problems when it switches desktops. That causes
compiz.real process to spin at 100% CPU. Although the symptoms of this
bug is X running consuming 100% CPU I think we need to eliminate compiz
as the cause. There is a desktop switch when the screensaver is switched
out. I've had the same symptoms occur when using rdesktop in full screen
mode and I go to switch back to windowed mode.

Another behaviour of compiz consuming 100% is ALT+SYSREQ (PRTSCR key)
successfully switches off raw keyboard mode in X. This allows a switch
to TTY1 using CTRL+ALT+F1. This is not possible when X is using 100%.

Since i've not found anyone else making progress with this bug i'll try to move
things forward a little. Could you all report the following information:
 * Does ALT+PRTSCR enable tty switching for you (might need to use
ALT+SYSREQ+R)?
 * Does the bug occur with compiz disabled/uninstalled?

[Bug 282387] Re: scrollwheel emulation breaks after suspend with 2.6.27-7

2008-11-19 Thread Sammy Spets
Niklas: Here are my findings for the git repository revisions. On some
of the revisions I couldn't select text after switching VT and back to
X. Selecting by double-click worked but dragging with mouse button down
didn't work. In the results below you'll find Selection results are
about that.

63af314368cec47b6b8266db331f2c820e7a071f CTRL-C kills X, Selections OK, Scroll
OK
af096e8c5d8b425f725a37bf4a98e205e70716e9 CTRL-C kills X, Selections OK, Scroll
OK
12498042fcc08e34aef0117ce84192f59542fd56 CTRL-C kills X, Selections bad, Scroll
OK

As you can see, CTRL-C still kills X even with the HEAD revision
(63af314368cec47b6b8266db331f2c820e7a071f). Commit
af096e8c5d8b425f725a37bf4a98e205e70716e9 appears to have the fix for the
selections breaking after VT switch. Commit
12498042fcc08e34aef0117ce84192f59542fd56 was immediately before
af096e8c5d8b425f725a37bf4a98e205e70716e9.

Unfortunately, the commit fixing the problem doesn't cleanly apply to
the xserver-xorg-input-evdev-2.0.99+git20080912 source.

as a third party repository in Software Sources:

deb http://synerger.com/opensync-amd64 gutsy main

Please note that i'm not providing support or warranty for these
packages. They are simply a rebuild for amd64 using the source packages
provided at http://opensync.gforge.punktart.de/repo/opensync-0.21

Use these packages at your own risk! I've tested it using my N82 and the

However, the kernel still offers the option to use fixed mapping, which
is the default, via CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO. According to
http://lwn.net/Articles/184734/ , when this is Y, it reverts to the old
way - fixed address. Unfortunately, there's a bug in my version of
kernel that defeats it (http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/1/14/2). I'm not sure
whether there are still bugs in 2.6.22 or you have CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO
disabled. Could you paste the output of cat /proc/self/maps ?

BTW, should GDB also be updated to support reading from a dynamically
mapped vDSO?
