I am having the same issue in Lubuntu 17.04 using AMD Firepro W4100 GPU. Switching off the monitor (Dell) and switching it back on results in monitor displaying no DP signal. No key combinations or mouse movements help. The only way I can get it back is hard restart of the computer. Quite frustrating issue!
