[Bug 590508] Re: Standby works every second time

2014-01-16 Thread sektor
Hi,
thank you to follow up on this. I think this bug can be closed since I am the
only one who is affecting by this. The bug still occours with 12.04 LTS but an
easy workaround is to use the suspend button instead of closing the lid. So,
let's close this bug as others seem to be more important.

Thank you!
Aleks

[Bug 1010349] Re: Evolution address book inaccessible without killing one time "e-addressbook-factory"

2013-01-20 Thread sektor
I am a bit surprised to see 'low' as 'importance' for this bug. As far
as I understood Ubtuntu 12.04 LTS users are not able to sync their
evolution contacts with google on a permanent basis - like me. This is
preventing Ubuntu LTS users to use Ubuntu LTS as real world workstation
without additional fallbacks like M$. LTS versions are supposed to work
for people and companies that need a resilient system, right? Please
consider that evolution was the preferred solution before Ubuntu 12.04.
I think the importance of this bug is not representing the real impact
for Ubuntu LTS users therefore.

I am not able to code the things which are necessary to solve this bug
but I am absolutly happy to support with whatever I can do to solve this
issue. Please give me guidance on how to support you!

Thank you.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-30 Thread sektor
I forgot to mention that all affected systems have two active panels
(top and bottom; default). Nearly all of them are using the standard
setup. Only one user has moved the date and time applet to the bottom
panel and has added the 'eyes' applet to the bottom panel This user is
facing the issue more often than other users.

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets

2010-07-30 Thread sektor
I have deleted the bottom gnome panel. There is only one panel now. This
one resides at the top and is keeping the notification applet. I don't
see this issue since multiple weeks now while other systems (freshly
installed) still have this issue. Hope that helps.

[Bug 590508] [NEW] Standby works every second time

2010-06-06 Thread sektor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpid

First of all I am not sure if acpid is really the correct package or
causing the issue at all but I guess it is likely.

I configured Gnome through the on board GUI to bring my laptop to
standby mode when I close the lid. This works perfectly for the 1st, the
3rd, the 5th ... n times where n can't be divided by 2. I would expect
that to work every time and not only on odd attempts. This issue is
reproducible.

This System is an up to date Ubuntu 10.04 x64 upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10
x64. This issue is also in 9.10 x64.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04

[Bug 513467] [NEW] X restarts to GDM after empathy was idle and gets input

2010-01-27 Thread sektor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

This problem occurs when empathy is running and the computer is idle for
multiple hours. If you move the mouse to get rid of the blank screen and
want to type something directly after you are able to see empathy it
will restart X to the GDM login as soon as you press ENTER.

I would expect that X will not restarted and I can use empathy.

I would expect that it works the way as the original poster described.
Please let me know if you need further informations. I think this is
also an important issue since it is the easiest way to share data
between ubuntu hosts in a network without telling your password to
everyone.

[Bug 421820] Re: [karmic] Pulseaudio keeps taking more and more memory

2009-12-20 Thread sektor
This Bug happens in ubuntu x64 (stable release) too. Makes every system
unusable after some time. After a day, pulseaudio consumes 3 of 4 G of
RAM and 2G swap. It eats up ~ 0,4 Meg every 5 seconds directly after the
system has started. This happens until the system is unable to handle
this issue. I think this is really a major issue because the system is
getting unusable slow after some time. Please note that no audio
application is running (except the default Ubuntu system sounds).

Some data:

[Bug 469722] [NEW] Karmic Koala does not automount usb devices

2009-11-01 Thread sektor

It looks similar when using udb hd's.

I have tried this with a usb stick (fat32), a 2,5" hd with ext3 and a
3,5" hd (encrypted with LUKS and ext3 as fs). It looks always the same,
no errors/warnings in messages. Manually mounting (with cryptsetup for
the luks disk of course) works perfect, no strange behavior.

It seems that gnome isn't getting the trigger to recognize these
devices.

This problem does not only apply to me:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1309239

I have installed karmic from the alternate cd with ext3 as fs for the
root fs.

Thank You,
sektor

Hi Leann,
thank you for your feedback. Here is the signature:

I think version 2.6.28-11-generic was used before because of:

[Bug 431005] [NEW] system freeze after upgrade

2009-09-16 Thread sektor
Public bug reported:

Hello,
Ubuntu 9.04 (x64) randomly freezes (not often) after the upgrade from 15.09.09.

uname -a:
Linux sektor 2.6.28-15-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 18 19:25:34 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux

The wireless interface was loosing connectivity shortly before the
system freezed. I think there was an update of the intel wireless driver
yesterday.. I found these traces in /var/log/messages:

[Bug 187335] Re: Unlock button throws an error, doesn't authenticate

2009-01-30 Thread sektor
In response to Gilbert Mendoza's post regarding to Martin Pitt's
solution about editing the policy, if you are having issues modifying
the policy open a terminal window and type the following sudo polkit-
gnome-authorization, then edit the policy listed above and the unlock
buttons will work from a remote location. I just did it on my machine
and I have a windows session running via Xnest.

I use the Ubuntu Desktop Edition.

I use the Network Manager (nm-applet 0.6.5) for my wired conecction. The
IP address is assigned over dhcp at boot time. There is no iptables
setup on my machine. The complete network configuration is Ubuntu's
installation default. The distribution is up to date.

I was able to reproduce this issue on my laptop with the same software
enviroment
but over a wireless link. The wireless Interface uses the bcm43xx module.
The wireless card is a build in Broadcom BCM4306 (rev 03).

I think this is not releated to my hardware because the same thing happens
on two completely different computers.

Regards,
Aleks

[Bug 216847] [NEW] sshd will not start at boot

2008-04-13 Thread sektor
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openssh-server

The sshd will not start at boot if the ListenAddress option in
/etc/ssh/sshd_config is set to an IPv4 address other then 0.0.0.0 .

I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and the version 1:4.6p1-5ubuntu0.2 of the openssh-server
package.
I would expect that sshd is started after boot but it will not and I found this
in /var/log/auth.log:

sshd[4527]: error: Bind to port 22 on 10.1.1.22 failed: Cannot assign requested
address.
sshd[4527]: fatal: Cannot bind any address.

Once the System is started you can start/stop the sshd with the
/etc/init.d/ssh script without any problems.

** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
