[Bug 61278] Re: [Bug 61278] Re: Unable to change default sound device.

2006-09-20 Thread seldeterre
Ubuntu Dapper. Linux kernel 2.6.15-27-686. Dell Latitude 510. I
access it through System, Preferences, Sound. I have also attempted to
change it by clicking on the dialog box that appears when I plug in the
headset. However, this opens the same dialog as the one under System,
Preferences, Sound.

I know this worked under Breezy. And I believe I have done this under
Dapper in the past, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? What dialog do
you use to select the device, the one from System,Preferences,Sound?

 Sourcepackagename: gnome-media = control-center

do you have anything on the command line when trying to change the
device? Do you have a .asoundrc.asoundconf to your user directory? What
 does it contain?

Could you try to run asoundconf list and copy that to a comment? Then
the same with asoundconf set-default-card CARD where CARD is the name
of the card displayed by the previous comment. Does it make any
 difference for the .asoundrc.asoundconf?

No, it still doesn't work and the System Preferences still show the
original device.

does it work after running that command by hand? do applications use the
right device when you play something?
