[Bug 462169] Re: nmbd dies on startup when network interfaces are not up yet
scratch my comment 2 above. I changed runlevel to 19. seemed to work once, but doesn't work any more. samba still dies on startup and i have to load manually each time with "sudo /etc/init.d/samba start" -- nmbd dies on startup when network interfaces are not up yet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462169 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 462169] Re: nmbd dies on startup when network interfaces are not up yet
I've fixed this on mine. Loaded BUM, and changed runlevel from 20 to 19 for samba. [Bug 416730] Re: [needs packaging] nuBuilder
This app would be extremely useful if we could get it in Karmic. it's like a Cloud version of Microsoft Access - online database builder and report generator. It's used by several large businesses in Australia, and they decided a couple of months ago to do the community a favour and release it as GPL3. I think it'd fit very well with the cloud focus of Karmic and there are no similar apps that I'm aware of or can find --- so it would be good to pat these guys on the back for releasing it under GPL3 and get it into the Universe repo. -- [needs packaging] nuBuilder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 358033] Re: [i965GM gma3100] X freezes when mythtv idle >10 min, since Apr 1st
Wonder if this is the same bug I get. After upgrading to the final Jaunty Beta and also the RC Candidate mine crashes after several hours idle giving me an unresponsive black screen. Intel Pentium 4 3GHz, with 6800GS graphics card. Predictably occurs if I'm downloading from an ftp server overnight. In the morning, it is always crashed to a black screen. Doesn't occur while running Intrepid (I never ran earlier Jaunty versions, so can't say about them).. Is there any way I can gather info about this crash? Not sure how to. If I can telnet / ssh to the box, what commands should I type while its otherwise unresponsive? Could be unrelated, but prior to crashes Ive sometimes noticed 'tracker- indexer' seems to be chewing up most of the system CPU for hours on end. -- [i965GM gma3100] X freezes when mythtv idle >10 min, since Apr 1st https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 359392] Re: [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd
in case its of any use - I think I'm getting the same error on both the final beta and also the RC of Jaunty. NVidia6800GS card on a Pentium 4 3GHz chip. I get a black unresponsive screen after several hours use. HDD seems to be active. I seemed to get more of these black screens when I was overclocking the CPU, so dropped it back to default and now only about once every 6-12 hours. Doesn't seem to be a temperature issue (I monitor temp closely). Just my impression - nothing concrete. Resolves itself / doesn't occur when I'm running Intrepid. -- [i965] X freezes starting on April 3rd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359392 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 12040] Re: Gnome menu is slow when clicking for the first time
Just installed Jaunty Beta 1. This bug _still_ exists here. Same bug as way back in Breezy, when I first saw it. Perhaps the oldest bug in Ubuntu - except for bug 1?? If this is a caching of the icons problem (most common reason I hear) then why isn't it a problem for the gnome menu-bar (applications - places - system menu)? I think the solution would be found with finding the reason why the menu-bar doesn't have a caching problem and implementing the same solution for the menu-button. -- Gnome menu is slow when clicking for the first time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12040 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 12040] Re: Gnome menu is slow when clicking for the first time
This problem STILL! exists in Intrepid. It has been an active bug for something like 3 years now. Does anyone have a fix for this frigging annoying bug? I've tried everything, with no luck. The round menu (when it replaces the menu bar) takes up to 15 seconds to register a click. [Bug 256749] Re: Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume
I can confirm also that the problem remains in 8.10 final. A bit annoying because I use this machine to stream video to a media device and every time I boot it up I have to go into the computer, click the ntfs drive I want to mount, get the error message and then click it again. I seem to remember that 8.04 mounted the ntfs drive automatically on bootup which meant I just had to power on this machine and itd do the rest itself. -- Unable to mount location -- Internal error: No mount object for mounted volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/256749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 234700] Re: Selecting "Shut Down" leads to a reboot
I have the same problem. For me, 7.10 was fine - now 8.04 reboots almost every time when I hit shutdown. Occassionally, it does shutdown but too rarely for me to reproduce easily. [Bug 62751] Re: Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes in cryptsetup
hey - i've got a workaround that I use, but not a fix. ive set up an encrypted partition on /dev/hdb3 to get it to ask for the password when gnome loads up (and mount it then), ive taken the reference to it out of /etc/fstab, and included it into /etc/pmount.allow then in the gnome startup programs (preferences>sessions>startup programs) ive added: gnome-terminal -e "pmount /dev/hdb3" so the LUKS password prompt shows up each time gnome starts, and mounts the disk. i prefer this anyway to a password prompt half way through boot up. not a fix, though, but it might help someone. -- Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes in cryptsetup https://launchpad.net/bugs/62751 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
