[Bug 179043] Re: Gnome Panel locks up when inputting anything

2008-01-17 Thread sheepeatingtaz
I can't get a backtrace.

I've followed the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace.

I first assumed deskbar-applet was running (Icon is on panel), pidof
deskbar-applet doesn't return anything, so I couldn't continue.

I tried to go the other route, but following the instruction gets me to
'run deskbar-applet' and I get "No executable file found", so I couldn't
continue.

Please advise?

Sorry, senior moment, the problem is with deskbar-applet, not gnome-
panel!

If someone could re-assign it, I would be grateful.

[Bug 179043] Gnome Panel locks up when inputting anything

2007-12-28 Thread sheepeatingtaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Whenever I type anything into the 'search' bar in Gnome panel, it locks
up completely after a single character. Please let me know what I can do
to try and help debug this, as I am very aware that this is not a
detailed report, and it cannot be doing this for many people!

[Bug 161044] Re: no CD automount after upgrade to gutsy (Hal, dbus or gvm)

2007-12-23 Thread sheepeatingtaz
I too can confirm this bug and the workaround. On my machine, I had to
try to upgrade to the hardy version and downgrade, but a couple of
ubuntu-uk users who were having the same problem report that a
straightforward sudo apt-get install hal -reinstall did the trick for
them.

I assume it was a result of upgrading to gutsy in the Beta phase that
meant that a configuration was 'not quite right'

[Bug 119014] Re: Cdrom doesn't mount and it doesn't even eject

2007-11-10 Thread sheepeatingtaz
I am having a similar problem to this. Whenever I insert any CD or DVD,
it is not recognised by the system. If I reboot the system (with the
disc in the drive), then the disc is mounted when I log back in.

fstab contains "/dev/hdb/media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto
0 0"

Do I need to do any sort of debugging to help? Will doing the steps on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingRemovableDevices or
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHardwareDetection help?

[Bug 144181] [Gutsy] network-manager won't auto detect wired network

2007-09-22 Thread sheepeatingtaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

When I start up, network-manager up used to auto connect to the wired
network (BT Voyager Router). Currently, Gutsy SAYS it is connected to
the wired network, but it doesn't pick up the default gateway. It can be
'forced' to pick up the info by 'reconnecting' i.e. selected wired
network from the nm-applet menu.

[Bug 135804] thunderbird crashes on compose

2007-08-30 Thread sheepeatingtaz
Public bug reported:

I upgraded to Gutsy this morning (to help hunt out bugs and such). When
I run thunderbird (in Gnome or KDE) it works fine until I try to compose
a message. This could be through the Compose New message, forward
message or reply to message function. When I lauch thunderbird from a
terminal, the last message I get is:

/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird-bin: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/thunderbird/components/libmyspell.so: undefined symbol:
_ZN8Hunspell5spellEPKc

Please let me know if you need more info, and how to get it if you do!

[Bug 78865] Re: Seg-Fault after Google Browser Sync plugin installation

2007-01-18 Thread sheepeatingtaz
Freddy,

The best link I can get for the extension is
http://tools.google.com/firefox/browsersync/install.html

I'm running Ubuntu on both my desktop & laptop, and I'm only having an
issue with the version on the laptop. I also have the extension running
on a couple of windows machines, and on FIrefox Portable.

[Bug 78865] Re: Seg-Fault after Google Browser Sync plugin installation

2007-01-17 Thread sheepeatingtaz
I have this exact same problem. The only way I can get Firefox to start
now is in safe-mode from the command line, and I have removed the Google
Browser Sync add-on.

aptitude reinstall firefox does not help either

Please let me know if I can get any more info to help trace the problem.

[Bug 72662] Re: nm-applet kills itself, restarts when connecting to wireless AP

2007-01-09 Thread sheepeatingtaz
I can confirm this problem in Edgy. This was the same in KDE with
knetworkmanager until updating at the end of last week. It works fine
from a fresh install (both KDE and Gnome) but running aptitude (or apt-
get) upgrade (or dist-upgrade) means it will not work on next boot.
