I have the same problem on Vmware Player 12 and Vmware Workstation 11. I found one black pixel in old palace - it show a hint ~'LCD backlight brightness: 100%' and I have be sure it's a my brightness applet. Hello, I do small research for this. I can reproduce this bug only from one webpage, it's intranet portal of my company. Other person download this files without any error from Windows(different browsers). Only I use linux and have this error but only in FF, other browser works me ok. After I see this error I put as URL /tmp path [file:///tmp/] and the same PDF now works properly. I can open any pdf documents what I find in google search. Unfortunately, I see PDF documents listed in Edit Preferences Applications on my system, so I cannot confirm that part of the bug at this point. I cannot see PDF document in Edit Preferences Applications even if I run Ubuntu from LiveCD! or on my current installed Ubuntu. I put same screenshot to: http://pokazywarka.pl/bug576854/ Uff.
