I can also confirm this. Running evolution --force-shutdown after crash helps to recover. IIRC there is a bug similar to this for Ubuntu 9.04 and Evolution 2.26 with same kind of symptoms. I had the sane problem but I got it working just by touching mouse preferences. In this case disabled and enabled again laptop touch pad.
