I'm having the same problem. I am:

and trying:

-sudo killall update-notifier
-sudo killall apt
-sudo killall aptitude
-sudo killall synaptic

Then retrying the update to no avail.

[Bug 285260] [NEW] Cannot use custom DNS for GSM connections

2008-10-17 Thread soldierboy101st
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ppp

Release 8.10
Package: PPP
Pkg ver: 2.4.4rel-10ubuntu2

Expectations:

To be able to use the '-usepeerdns' option in /etc/ppp/options or
otherwise configure custom name servers.

As it stands now:

-If I put '-usepeerdns' in /etc/ppp/options, Network Manger fails to connect to
the GSM network.
-If I edit /etc/ppp/resolv.conf with the custom name servers, it gets over
ridden by if-up? when negotiating with the peer and uses the peers' name
servers.

2008-01-31 Thread soldierboy101st

I installed the package, kde4-core from the repo. Everything seemed to
have installed fine, however, when I choose 'KDE4' from the sessions

[Bug 187918] Re: [Hardy] KDE4 logon failure: 'startkde: Could not start D-Bus. Check your installation.'

2008-01-31 Thread soldierboy101st
Interestingly enough, when I run:

/usr/lib/kde4/bin/startkde from the CLI with sudo, I don't get the
error. The splash displays but does nothing further, whereas if I run
startkde from CLI w/o root privileges, I get the above-mentioned error.
Could it be a permissions problem?

[Bug 186824] [NEW] kdeinit4: symbol lookup error (Unable to logon KDE4)

2008-01-28 Thread soldierboy101st
Public bug reported:

When I try to logon to KDE4 I get a popup: Could not start kstartupconfig.
Check your installation.
I found where the startup script is stopping:
/usr/lib/kde4/bin/kdeinit4: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/kde4/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol:
_ZN14QWidgetPrivate15checkWindowRoleEv
I checked to make sure that libQtSvg.so.4 was in: /usr/lib/kde4/lib/ I had to
copy it there from another location on my HD (it was initially missing, as well
as a couple other .so files -- it was stopping at kdestartup before).

[Bug 104713] Re: [Feisty] Kubuntu installer freezes at 85%

2007-04-18 Thread soldierboy101st
I wish I could help you out further, hopefully someone else comes along
that has the same probably (can't just be my computer). I had to settle
for Debian Etch, so in order for me to do what you're asking I would
need to go through the whole install process again, and that is not
feasible, formatting partitions, etc. But thank you for following up
anyways. The LiveCD wouldn't boot at all either, that's why I had to try
the alternate in the first place. I'll revisit Ubuntu again later on
after some more bugs are fixed.

2007-04-13 Thread soldierboy101st
This is definitely a bug. Just downloaded both Kubuntu AND Ubuntu Daily
Alternate CD's and both failed at exactly 85% yet again. I hope this
doesn't get swept under the rug. Here are my specs:

Dell Inspiron E1505
ATI Mobility X1400
1GB RAM
100GB SATA
DVD R/RW

I challenge you, dear developer, to simply confirm what I have written
by trying out the textual installer on this exact laptop.

[Bug 104713] [Feisty] Kubuntu installer freezes at 85%

2007-04-09 Thread soldierboy101st
Public bug reported:

Just downloaded and attempted to install: Kubuntu Alternate CD, Daily
build 9 APR. The installer freezes at 85% on the Selecting and
installing packages load-bar. I might add that I do not believe the
problem to be package-related as I've tried all of the install options
(even the minimal/command line option) and it always freezes at 85%,
regardless of the current package it is installing at the tiime.

I might add that, YES I've checksummed the discs (burnt a second one
just to be sure).

[Bug 75035] Re: evolution-alarm-notify crashes when starting a second gnome session in a second X server

Same here, under a little different circumstances. When I login remotely
using NXClient to my machine, the bug reporting tool opens with an
alarm-evolution-notify report. (I realize this is creating a new X
session as well which is why I commented here.)
