[Bug 373245] Re: karmic: wakeups kernel core : hrtimer_start_range_ns (tick_sched_timer)

2010-02-10 Thread soprano
Same problem here with Karmic, kernel 2.6.31-20-generic. Battery life
decreased to 30% of that in Jaunty (1h to 20 min.).

Top causes for wakeups:
  28.6% ( 44.7) kernel core : hrtimer_start_range_ns (tick_sched_timer)
  13.6% ( 21.3) interrupt : extra timer interrupt
   8.1% ( 12.7) interrupt : ehci_hcd:usb2, uhci_hcd:usb3, uhci_hcd:usb5
   7.9% ( 12.3) firefox : hrtimer_start_range_ns (hrtimer_wakeup)
   7.9% ( 12.3) /sys/bus/usb/devices/2-1.1.1
   7.0% ( 11.0) kernel core : hrtimer_start (tick_sched_timer)
   6.8% ( 10.7) kernel IPI : Rescheduling interrupts

[Bug 517554] [NEW] gnome-panel loses focus on second screen

2010-02-05 Thread soprano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

system: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala, gnome-panel 2.28.0

In a dual-head, dual screen configuration, gnome-panel loses focus when
on display:0.1. No problems on display:0.0.

To reproduce:
- Click on a button in the Window List, to minimize a window.
- The first click succeeds, and the window minimizes, but the focus is lost.
- Any other click on the same button or other buttons in the panel are
uneffective.
- To regain the focus, move the mouse outside the panel and move in again.

This happens to the panel's pop-up windows, like preferences.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 277391] Re: Intrepid system freeze on dell XPS 1330

2009-01-07 Thread soprano
** Description changed:

I am getting random system crashes (blinking caps num lock lights) on
my Intrepid AMD64 laptop. I have kept up to date with packages,
including all kernel package updates. I can provide any information that
will flesh out this report, so please let me know what additional info
is needed. The latest crash happened while downloading the latest
Intrepid beta x64 desktop CD and watching a video in Miro. Previous
crash happened while I was at work, not using the laptop.

I've added the table below to help summarize the current status:

  | reporter | kernel version | wifi driver | linux-backports-modules-intrepid
(yes/no) | Fixed (or not) |
  | Patipat Susumpow | 2.6.27-? | ?? | lbm - yes | FIXED |
  | Dr. Dabbles | 2.6.27-4 | iwlagn | lbm - no | not fixed |

  | Roel Huybrechts | 2.6.27-9.19 | iwlagn | lbm - yes | seems fixed after

[Bug 277391] Re: Intrepid system freeze on dell XPS 1330

2009-01-06 Thread soprano
Same problem here, but maybe I found something.

First, HW/SW description:
Dell m1330
Ubuntu 8.10
kernel 2.6.27-9-generic
wifi driver iwlagn
wifi card Intel PRO Wireless 4965

As the others, no problem in Hardy, crashes after update to Intrepid.
Installed linux-backports-modules-intrepid and everything got working
fine.

Now, yesterday to test another Dell laptop (with broadcom wifi card and
lots of other problems) I changed my router's WLAN mode from 108 MBit/s
automatic to g and b. After dong that, today I got four of five
crashes (as described above: caps and num lock blinking, switch-off
needed). Then I set back the mode to 108 MBit/s automatic and I'm
online since hours without crashes.

This may explain why in the hotel described above with some routers it
crashes with others not. It may depend on router config.

Hope this helps.

2009-01-06 Thread soprano
...of course I'm talking about crashes on my m1330 which uses the same
router I was reconfiguring to test the other laptop. The router is a
Netgear WGT624 v3.
