[Bug 1396760] Re: ca-certificates-java doesn't create /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts
We bring in Java 8 from openjdk-r. Not having supported Java 8 in Trusty is one of our other huge gripes, and arguably the fact that it's not integrated and tested but you have to use a PPA instead is part of why these problems don't get found until users try to use the software :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396760 Title: ca-certificates-java doesn't create /etc/ssl/certs/java/cacerts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-certificates-java/+bug/1396760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706442] Re: please add support for openjdk-8
Independent of the "Java is completely broken" issue, I do think the originally stated case of "ca-certificate-java should support openjdk-8" is still totally valid. Installing this package seems to bring in java 7 even when you already have 8 installed. The current situation is pretty ridiculous. Java 7 is EOL and not useful to the majority of users of the most popular languages on the planet. Java 8 is only available via an unsupported PPA, and any attempt to get support (either here, or on the PPA, or via the request process to get Java 8 added to Trusty) has simply failed. I hate being that guy whining on the bug tracker, but Ubuntu is really dropping the ball on this one. Just look at the request for an official Java 8 packaging: https://bugs.launchpad.net/trusty- backports/+bug/1368094 with 750 "+1"s. The community is trying to work with Ubuntu to highlight this and get it fixed, but every attempt either gets ignored or closed as invalid... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706442 Title: please add support for openjdk-8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-certificates-java/+bug/1706442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706442] Re: please add support for openjdk-8
We're also finding that we cannot install Java 8 on Trusty anymore. One other thing I noted is that the openjdk-8 package seems to have a 'Breaks: ' directive for older versions of ca-certificates-java, including this version. This is a really serious issue for us, and this is not the first time Java support on Ubuntu LTS has broken in really bad ways that makes me wonder what sort of testing and validation these packages go through :/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706442 Title: please add support for openjdk-8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-certificates-java/+bug/1706442/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1341628] Re: [needs-packaging]openjdk-8 in 14.04
The lack of a openjdk8 package makes it very difficult to install any Java packages via apt, as they all end up depending on something like 'java7-runtime-headless | java6-runtime-headless'. [Bug 73457] Re: MASTER Firefox is already running, but is not responding when /home is an NFS directory
I apologize for resurrecting this bug report from the dead, but I anticipate that if I file a new report it will just be marked as a duplicate of this one :) I recently upgraded a few machines to Intrepid and am now experiencing this problem. Same symptoms - 90% of the time firefox says it's already running or refuses to start at all (no windows or anything). Firefox is already not running. There's no stale lockfiles. Remounting the NFS file system with nolock mitigates the problem, but that's obviously not an acceptable long-term solution Setup: Client: Intrepid Ibex up-to-date amd64 with /home mounted NFS Server: FreeBSD 7 with a UFS2 volume exported Could someone confirm and/or reopen the bug? I am very willing to help troubleshoot, but I'll need some guidance - I don't know too much about NFS locking. [Bug 60625] Re: Automatic interfaces not brought up on boot on edgy
My system soon after that decided to give up entirely, to the point where there were more broken things than working. I decided to reinstall from the latest edgy beta... sorry I can't do as you asked. Maybe I just caught an unlucky combination of package versions that conspired to wreck my system... the new install does not have this problem. Thanks for your unfortunately unsuccessful help. [Bug 60625] Re: Automatic interfaces not brought up on boot on edgy
I have these: / /usr /var /home /boot on separate partitions. /boot is ext3 and the rest are jfs. All are, of course, marked to mount at boot. -- Automatic interfaces not brought up on boot on edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/60625 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60625] Re: Automatic interfaces not brought up on boot on edgy
Interesting. Looking at /etc/init.d/networking, it logs a message saying Configuring network interfaces... and then runs ifup... But maybe I'm just confused. Anyway, here's ifconfig -a eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:8D:7E:90:D7 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:217 Base address:0x4000 loLink encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:40 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:40 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:3552 (3.4 KiB) TX bytes:3552 (3.4 KiB) And this is very strange - /etc/iftab seems to have disappeared. I know it used to exist on the system; I remember editing it a few weeks ago. This problem started happening when I dist-upgraded to edgy. If having that file missing would cause this, maybe one of the packages accidentally deleted the iftab file? -- Automatic interfaces not brought up on boot on edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/60625 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 60623] Upgrading mdadm package is impossible - can't upgrade while raid arrays active
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mdadm I've upgraded to edgy and just today-ish a new mdadm package came out. I can't upgrade it, because /etc/init.d/mdadm-raid fails while trying to stop /dev/md0 and /dev/md1. Trying to do a mdadm -S /dev/md0 fails as well, even though it is not mounted and no processes (apparently) hold it open - it fails with Device or resource busy. I tried to boot into singleuser, and the same thing happens. Booting with init=/bin/bash left me at the initramfs, where it was indeed possible to mdadm -S the arrays but it was not possible to upgrade mdadm (as I did not have the root fs mounted) For some reason booting with the emergency kernel option doesn't seem to work anymore, it does a normal boot instead. [Bug 60502] Udev doesn't update /dev/disk/by-label to reflect LVM LVs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: udev I have several LVM VGs, each with multiple LVs. They are all assigned disk labels such as /backup to reflect their purpose. I mount them with LABEL=/backup type entries in /etc/fstab. This same fstab worked on Dapper just fine, but now Edgy complains that /dev/disk/by- label//backup does not exist. Indeed, by listing the directory, all my drives except for the LVs show up just fine. I've searched google, and the only reference to having udev update its directories said that rebooting would fix it. Obviously this doesn't fix it in this situation. Seems to affect Edgy only. ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed ** Description changed: Binary package hint: udev I have several LVM VGs, each with multiple LVs.
