[Bug 958852] Re: Desktop freezes randomly when using smooth scrolling and/ or hardware acceleration

2012-07-08 Thread sun2ecliptic
Confirmed the same symptom for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, using Firefox versions
up to and including 13.0.1. This froze the desktop session to the point
of not being able to switch out of Xorg to an alternate terminal.
Turning on smooth scrolling reproduces the symptom regularly.

[Bug 981058] Re: Firefox freezes constantly while scrolling or using menus

2012-07-08 Thread sun2ecliptic
Having the same symptoms, but this was resovled for me by turning off
smooth scrolling (as commented on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/958852). Can
anyone confirm if turning off smooth scrolling resolves this issue for
them, as well?

[Bug 560434] Re: In Lucid BCM4322 wireless adapter will not connect to WPA encrypted networks using any driver option available

2010-04-11 Thread sun2ecliptic
I can confirm this problem as well, with Lucid (beta 2), on a MBP (5,4),
with the following from lspci:

Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless
LAN Controller (rev 01)

Temporary workaround (tested, verified):

1.) Run: modprobe -r wl
2.) Remove: bcmwl-kernel-source 5.60.48.36+bdcom-0ubuntu2
3.) Install: bcmwl-kernel-source_5.10.91.9+bdcom-0ubuntu4
4.) Run: modprobe wl
5.) (Optional) Stop dpkg from updating, run: echo bcmwl-kernel-source hold |
dpkg --set-selections

The previous version of the kernel source driver is able to find hidden
access points and complete handshakes without error.

Syslog results (5.60.48.36):
==
Apr 10 20:16:47 ubuntu NetworkManager: info (eth1): supplicant connection
state: disconnected - scanning
Apr 10 20:16:57 ubuntu wpa_supplicant[1018]: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED -

Apr 10 20:17:38 ubuntu NetworkManager: info Activation (eth1/wireless):
association took too long.
==

The above messages repeat several times, until ultimately rolling back
to the previous kernel source rpm version.

[Bug 445852] Re: devkit-disks-probe-ata-smart causes HSM Violations on SSD, and potential hardware death

2010-02-09 Thread sun2ecliptic
After upgrading the kernel to 2.6.31-19, devicekit-disks (007-2ubuntu4),
and enabling DMA again, I am receiving no errors after testing
extensively. I was one of those plagued with this bug, causing havoc on
my netbook SSD. Can anyone else confirm a resolution on their end?
It's entirely possible the time period for testing became anomalous,
although I would figure unlikely given the consistency of errors
previous. Since I am not yet receiving errors I thought it was worth
opening continued discussion.
