[Bug 827030] Re: Rygel does not autostart

2014-12-14 Thread Sven Arnold
The above procedure (Comment #18) works for me (rygel 0.22.3-1 on
14.04), but I would like to add that IMHO the autostart behaviour of
rygel should not be dependent on the option to export media:

In my use case I would like to use rygel *as a renderer only*, thus I do
not turn on the option Share Media. Obviously, rygel should autostart
on login nevertheless. I propose to fix this issue by adding an explicit
autostart option to the preferences UI.

[Bug 1400705] [NEW] Xen 4.4 used Qemu suddenly after update

2014-12-09 Thread Sven
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS on two maschines for Xen.
After upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to 14.04 and switching from xm to xl as
recommended, Xen 4.4 started one qemu-system-i386 process per Linux VM. Before
upgrading, it was different, without qemu.

I also noticed, that xentop prints out zero for all VBD_xx values.
Hint: My Xen-maschines load disk images via samba from an other maschine.

I am a little bit confused, are qemu-system-i386 processes nessassary
for Linux VM?

[Bug 1242847] Re: Kubuntu setup / install encryption keyfile creation failure when setting up luks

2014-09-16 Thread Sven Romeike
It's a GUI problem in Kubuntus Installer. Here is a workaround:

1) click the radiobutton for the guided install with encryption and enter your
password.
2) select manual partitioning
3) create your /boot partition with your desired filesystem and a physical
crypto volume. on which you create your root filesystem

the password fields seem to be connected to the guided install but they
are used globally. They seem greyed out but thats just a visual problem.
The Password field is used whether you entered something or not.

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/178524404/buildlog_ubuntu-utopic-amd64

grep: ../mupen64plus-data/DEBIAN/control: No such file or directory

If this grep wouldn't fail than it would be detected that it is an all

  System information:

  * Release: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- * Package version: Mupen64plus 2.0+1 0
+ * Package version: libmupen64plus2 2.0-4 amd64

  1. Any video plugin set to 'Fullscreen=True` crashes mupen64plus regardless
of width/height specification in config file
  2. This occurs with any game I try
  2. command used was 'mupen64plus /home/test/my_game.v64`

The problem seems to be with the libmupen64plus.so.2.0 file under
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

  The key comment is: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
  /mupen64plus-core/+bug/1355747/comments/21

Changes have been tested by the 3 members in this bug report with
success. The changes only reflect a library used by mupen64plus, and

[Bug 1355747] Re: mupen64plus crashed with SIGSEGV in ViStatusChanged()

2014-08-13 Thread Sven Eckelmann
The lucid bug is fixed since ages in the package and was happening in a
complete different place.

Something like the stuff from the patch is already part of the 2.0-7
package that I've uploaded this morning. Did you test
libmupen64plus_2.0-7 or an older version. Btw. the package mupen64plus
is only a meta package and no useful information can be gathered by
querying the package information from it.

The patch posted in
https://github.com/ProfessorKaos64/RetroRig/issues/86#issuecomment-52029163
contains a lot of code regarding SDL_VIDEO_FULLSCREEN_HEAD which is
already handled by SDL2 and seems to work here out-of-the-box (without
this extra code). I don't see why it would be necessary to reimplement
this functionality inside mupen64plus-core. And this change makes it
harder to see what actually is necessary to work around your problem.

Btw. you seem to already have my ppa added. So you can simply update
libmupen64plus2 and test.

The PPA from yesterday didn't had the change. Please update
libmupen64plus2 and not the mupen64plus meta package.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ppa:sven-eckelmann/ppa-mupen64plus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libmupen64plus2='2.0-7~ppa2~trusty'

And I don't know if this really fixes your problem because I cannot
reproduce it here. The used change can be found here:

2014-08-13 Thread Sven Eckelmann
When you use upstream source then please contact upstream. And yes,
mupen64plus tries to use the resolution specified inside the config.
SDL_WINDOW_FULLSCREEN_DESKTOP will just use a large borderless window to
simulate fullscreen but should not change the resolution.

I have now completely lost what you want to get done by me.

[Bug 1355747] Re: mupen64plus crashed with SIGSEGV in ViStatusChanged()

2014-08-13 Thread Sven Eckelmann
This cannot be done by me because I am not an Ubuntu maintainer. And I
doubt that it will be done by anyone because the LTS system will not
really receive new versions of most software packages (which aren't
released yet btw). So in my propose would be to find what needs to be
changed (needs to be as small as possible) to get it working and then
find an Ubuntu MOTU guy to get the fix uploaded.

Btw. all changes of the vidext part in the git of mupen64plus-core are
already in 2.0-5, 2.0-6 and 2.0-7 (libmupen64plus2). So the first step
is to test them. mdeguzis seems to only have updated the meta package
and never the libmupen64plus2. So no one tested it yet, right?

2014-08-13 Thread Sven Eckelmann
Ok, thanks for the test. But now we don't know how to close this bug.
Can you try to install 2.0-5 manually with dpkg? When this works then
you can request an SRU - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

wget
https://launchpad.net/~sven-eckelmann/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/5949363/+files/libmupen64plus2_2.0-5~ppa1~trusty_amd64.deb
dpkg -i libmupen64plus2_2.0-5~ppa1~trusty_amd64.deb

If this version also works then following patches have to be included in the
SRU:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/mupen64plus-core.git/tree/debian/patches/sdl2_no_surface.patch?id=57075c090fdb3aaf4fbb23e531e947b941abe0ea
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/mupen64plus-core.git/tree/debian/patches/sdl2_destroywindow.patch

If it is not working then following patch must also be included:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/mupen64plus-
core.git/tree/debian/patches/sdl2_fullscreen_fallback.patch?id=57075c090fdb3aaf4fbb23e531e947b941abe0ea

There were many other patches in the 2.0-5 upload but they are all
unrelated. http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/mupen64plus-

[Bug 1355747] Re: mupen64plus crashed with SIGSEGV in ViStatusChanged()

2014-08-13 Thread Sven Eckelmann
you can for example change the new resolution via --resolution
parameter. By default a size of 640x480 is hardcoded in the video
plugins and all video plugins are currently only forcing a size and
don't correct themself when the returned window has a different size.
This is (imho) not trivial to change. I think you have to talk to
upstream to get the complete design of the resolution handling (and
maybe even the plugin api) changed.

Maybe rice could work with an resize event after the window was created
but at least all other plugins don't support resizing.

[Bug 1350319] Re: dialog silently fails if terminfo is unavailable

2014-07-30 Thread Sven Mueller
Contrary to my initial thought, it seems this should actually get
assigned to pythondialog.

Running the present-dialog.py quoted above, I can reproduce.

Running this commandline (which should be what python-dialog is
calling), I can't reproduce. Well, I can reproduce the failure, but also
get a useful error message:

$ sudo dialog --yesno Please check Yes! 0 65 --backtitle title
Error opening terminal: xterm-screen-256color.

Call without sudo shows the expected dialog.

[Bug 1329227] [NEW] pg_createcluster crashes when a username or group is specified that contains digits

2014-06-12 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
Public bug reported:

pg_createcluster accepts options --user and --group to specify under
which credentials a new database cluster should be created. According to
the manual page, one may specify either a name or a UID/GID (as digits).

The implementation, however, tests whether there is a digit in the given
string, not whether the entire string consists of digits. This causes
problems for me: I have a development system where each developer
creates databases and such per ticket. Users and groups are created for
this purpose, named ticketNNN where NNN is the number of the ticket
that the developer has been given to implement or bug fix. But
pg_createcluster does not like these user and group names, for example
ticket123: it thinks I specified a UID/GID instead of a name, and does
the wrong thing. It crashes later on when tries to use the string as a
number. This is what it says on my Precise system specifically:

Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in getpwuid at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 790.
Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in scalar assignment at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 796.
Argument ticket123 isn't numeric in numeric ne (!=) at
/usr/share/postgresql-common/PgCommon.pm line 799.

This is because the test on line 237 of pg_createcluster:
$owneruid = (getpwnam $owneruid)[2] unless $owneruid =~ /\d+/;
is testing the wrong thing. I think it should read:
$owneruid = (getpwnam $owneruid)[2] unless $owneruid =~ /^\d+$/;

The same happens a few lines down with the group name.

My Ubuntu version information:
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Release:12.04

I'm using postgresql-common version 129ubuntu1.

Just as a note: Procedure to reproduce:

Locate the line
#disable-user-service-publishing=no
in /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf and change it to
disable-user-service-publishing=yes

restart the avahi-daemon service (It might read the config file upon
change, but I didn't check)

Try to start Impress or Draw from Libreoffice - Crash.

To be honest, I don't understand the insistence on a crash dump when the
reproduction has been well described and is 100% reproducible.

[Bug 1097178] Re: nouveau failed to idle channel 0xcccc0000

2014-06-01 Thread Sven Arnold
Juan,

meanwhile I noted that I have a potential hardware problem (Mainboard or
RAM) which added confusion:

Strangely, my system works with one DDR2 module of 2GB but crashes when
using two modules. The RAM itself seems ok (tried each of the four
modules separately tried every memory bank). While this could be induced
by a problem on the mainboard and/or power supply it is still confusing
that the problem occured exactly when upgrading to 14.04.

Anyways: Currently, with one 2GB DIMM in use I have a probably working
setup:

kernel 3.13.0-27
xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.10+git1405261930.4a18dd~gd~t
libdrm-nouveau2:amd64 2.4.54+git1405200630.8fc62c~gd~t
nouveau-firmware 20091212-0ubuntu1

graphics devices drivers are from oibaf ppa

Best regards,

Sven

[Bug 1051952] Re: libgio's move-to-trash funciton freezes system when trashing files in kerberized, NFS mounted filesystems

2014-05-27 Thread Sven Heinrich
Just a small contribution to the still unresolved topic.
- The freeze of nautilus can be avoided if the file is deleted permanently
(Shift + DEL)
- a problem with MOVING the file (to the trash)??

Associated with that or not it also takes the problem (long temporary freezes)
for
- open and save files in Kile
- save files from Okular
- save files from Kate

[Bug 1321955] [NEW] postfixadmin relies on postgresql-server

2014-05-21 Thread Sven Neuhaus
Public bug reported:

I have postgresql-9.3 installed (the DB server).
When I try to install postfixadmin, apt wants to install mysql-server. I can't
install it without installing mysql-server!

It looks as if the postfixadmin requires either the package mysql-
server or postgresql-server, however there is no package postgresql-
server in Ubuntu trusty.

It seems there is no meta-package postgresql-server.

Either postfixadmin should not depend on this package or one of the
postgresql package must supply it.

[Bug 1317589] [NEW] Xen installer failed with cannot install GRUB to harddisk

2014-05-08 Thread Sven
Public bug reported:

I used the files from http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main
/installer-amd64/20101020ubuntu318/images/netboot/xen/ to install a
paraviertualized xen guest.

The Xen configuration file I used is given below. As you can see, the
paravirtualized guest sees two disk devices: xvda1 and xvda2. There is
no /dev/xvda device, which has an MBR, a partition table, or anything
like this.

It was possible for me to tell the installer to put the root filesystem
on xvda1 and swap on xvda2. Then, the installation continued all the way
till the point when the GRUB bootloader was about to be installed. That
failed. I had to chose continue without bootloader. I assume, it
failed since the installer actually tried to install grub to the MBR of
/dev/xvda - which doesn't exist.

As the virtual machine uses pygrub, there is point in installing GRUB to
some MBR or something. All I want is the grub configuration files for
pygrub to pick up.

It seems to me like the xen installer should have an option that only
installs the GRUB configuration files but skips the actual installation
of GRUB to some boot record or whatever. However, such an option was not
in the list. I could only chose between retrying to install GRUB,
installing LILO, and continuing without a bootloader.

2014-05-08 Thread Sven
I booted the system with a grub.cfg that I created by hand. Then, after
installing grub-common, I can run update-grub. The created grub.cfg works.
However, update-grub spits out a ton of warnings like described here:

[Bug 1302306] Re: Sound devices disappeared after update

2014-04-30 Thread Sven Neuhaus
I have the same issue. The sound card is recognized by the kernel and by
alsa, but it's not visible in pulseaudio.

My ALSA information is located at http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=6d4b149755dab308b7658c81caef4df2741058eb

I had audio before I upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 and immediately to 14.04.
Now I only see the dummy device in pavucontrol.

why is the urgency in the changelog just medium when the bug has a severity

Shouldn't that be enough for high?

And thanks for the quick reaction/fix, good job!

[Bug 649778] Re: caps lock turned on automatically from time to time

2014-03-13 Thread Sven 'Darkman' Michels
After a long long time of fiddling around with this bug, at least for me i
tracked the issue down to:
tvtime

When using tvtime, the problem appeared from time to time, without it,
it never happened again.

So it might be related to tvtime only.

Sven

[Bug 1244627] Re: Please enable CONFIG_IMA in the ubuntu kernel

2014-01-23 Thread Sven Mueller
Would there be a chance to create a -ima flavor of the kernel instead of
enabling it in the stock kernel flavor? This should allow for it to go
into Trusty and into Saucy as a SRU, if I understand correctly, since it
provides a new binary package instead of modifying an existing one (no
regression for existing installs, conscious decision of the user
required to install it).

[Bug 933903] Re: Dropbear's initramfs scripts mount /dev/pts a second time

2014-01-05 Thread Sven Neuhaus
I am getting an error about mountpoint not being found on Ubuntu 13.10:

/scripts/init-premount/devpts: line 21 mountpoint not found

When did the mountpoint command disappear?
What package was it part of?

[Bug 448095] Re: resolvconf starts after ifupdown, does not pick the dns-nameserver and dns-search lines up from /etc/network/interfaces

2013-12-10 Thread Sven Kieske
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 366967 ***

Thomas Hood:
I must decline that this is fixed.
How my system is setup:
Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS Server minimal installed.

I have booted a system without /etc/network/interfaces.
I created /etc/network/interfaces, than I ran ifup eth0 which should bring up
eth0 device and trigger resolvconf package
to check for new entries to add to resolv.conf.

ifup works, the ip-address and routes get assigned, however the dns-
nameservers do not get assigned.

apt-cache showpkg resolvconf shows me the version: 1.63ubuntu16

[Bug 1196975] Re: ifupdown calling dhclient with -1 causes it to fail when dhcp server unavailable

2013-11-01 Thread Sven Mueller
This was previously marked incomplete, then expired. However, all the
information that is available is in the bug. Here is a summary again:

dhclient stops trying to renew a lease if a previous renewal failed (due
to server being unavailable).

See #6 for all the logs available. See how the client tried to renew,
then tried a new DHCPDISCOVER, then didn't try again for at least 3
hours, with expiry set to 4 hours or more and renewal time set to 2
hours.

This is a different scenario from the server not being available on
start, as clarified in #2.

Note that during the whole time, the client network interface was up, as
the switch it was connected to didn't fail.

2013-09-17 Thread Sven Eckelmann
I've looked at http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/libmupen64plus2 and
compared the changelogs. The i386 version has a symlink to mupen64plus-
data and the amd64 one has the real changelog. This is not how the
Debian package was made and therefore I would guess it is caused by the
Ubuntu build system.

And I would also guess that you don't need libmupen64plus2:i386 because
the other packages you are using are :amd64. So please try to remove
libmupen64plus2:i386.

Maybe someone here knows who is responsible for the ubuntu build system
and the multiarch implementation in Quantal, raring, saucy, and can
subscribe them to this bug

[Bug 1196975] Re: ifupdown calling dhclient with -1 causes it to fail when dhcp server unavailable

2013-07-03 Thread Sven Mueller
I will see if I can dig up the logs, but this happened a while ago and I only
got around to filing this bug now. Anyway, what happened on dozens of machines
(might have been hundreds):
Machine has a working ethernet connection (to the switch)
The network itself works reliably for the whole time.
The DHCP servers fail for a prolonged timespan (several hours, long enough for
the leases of a percentage of the machines to expire).
Client machines which retained a valid lease might have tried to renew (renewal
time expiry time) and failed, but dhclient kept going.
At some point, the leases for a number of machines expired.
DHCP servers came back up.
Machines that still had valid leases at this point just renewed and worked as
expected.
Machines with expired leases didn't try to get a new lease. (I'm unsure if
dhclient exited, or just failed to try a new discovery, but I think it actually
exited).

I found this log snippet (that isn't very helpful, but it is from a time
close to the dhcp servers coming back (around 10am) and from a host that
failed to recover):

Nov 11 09:20:07 host dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 16

Nov 11 09:20:33 host dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 7
Nov 11 09:20:40 host dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67

No further dhclient entries after that point, until it was started again
after a reboot (no login possible, because LDAP server was
inaccessible), over 3 hours later (our renewal time is 2 hours, expiry 4
hours or more).

[Bug 1196975] [NEW] ifupdown calling dhclient with -1 causes it to fail when dhcp server unavailable

2013-07-02 Thread Sven Mueller
Public bug reported:

Present in the Precise version (0.7~beta2ubuntu8) at least:

ifupdown is hardcoded to call dhclient with -1, which causes it to exit on the
first failure.
This can happen in two ways:
1) Failure to bring up the interface if the dhcp server doesn't respond in time
(default 60s).
2) Failure to renew if the dhcp server was unavailable during a previous
renewal try.

This is http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=694541 as well,
it seems.

** Affects: ifupdown (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1196975] Re: ifupdown calling dhclient with -1 causes it to fail when dhcp server unavailable

2013-07-02 Thread Sven Mueller
Well, that would cover the first failure mode I described, but we experience
the second one.
I don't see any workaround, apart from removing the -1 from the dhclient
options.

I'm sorry, but this means that a _part_ of my report might be invalid
(though we think we saw that issue), but the other part is valid, unless
you can provide instructions how to not experience this issue.

When an interface is set to use dhcp and is set to an online state,
dhclient shouldn't give up retrying to renew a lease, but it does.

The value manually calculated equals to 2953,125€, which need to be rounded up

[Bug 1081842] Re: [cinnamon] Cinnamon Menu not working properly

2013-06-14 Thread Sven Ehret
running on a fresh Mint 15 install here, albeit with a /home directory
from a former LMDE install.

After replacing the file from post #38, categories get highlighted, but
no applications show. Search field does not work: I can type, but
nothing is found, categories only fade out.

After I renamed all directories ~/.gnome* to ~/.gnome*.bak, some more
categories did show.

Output of cinnamon --replace 21 | tee log_cinnamon.txt attached.

[Bug 1189643] [NEW] iSCSILogicalUnit uses default scsi sn of (stdin)=

2013-06-10 Thread Sven Arnold
Public bug reported:

According to its documentation iSCSILogicalUnit should generate a
default scsi_id by using the first 8 bytes of an md5 hash of the
resource name.

However, every created LUN gets the same id of (stdin)= .

Software versions:

Ubuntu Precise (12.04.2)

resource-agents 1:3.9.2-5ubuntu4.1
openssl 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.9
tgt 1:1.0.17-1ubuntu2

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create an iSCSI Target and one iSCSI LUN with crm
2) Display iSCSITarget configuration (e.g. tgtadm --mode target --op show):
3) Expected behaviour:
LUN: 1
  Type: disk
  SCSI ID: resource name
SCSI SN: first 8 bytes of hash code
3) Encountered behaviour:
LUN: 1
  Type: disk
  SCSI ID: resource name
  SCSI SN: (stdin)=
4) Reason:
The code in /usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/heartbeat/iSCSILogicalUnit is not
compatible with the shipped version of openssl:

# To have a reasonably unique default SCSI SN, use the first 8 bytes
# of an MD5 hash of of $OCF_RESOURCE_INSTANCE
sn=`echo -n ${OCF_RESOURCE_INSTANCE} | openssl md5`
OCF_RESKEY_scsi_sn_default=${sn:0:8}
: ${OCF_RESKEY_scsi_sn=${OCF_RESKEY_scsi_sn_default}}

Recent versions of openssl md5 have an output of:
(stdin)= digest

This is fixed in this commit upstream:
https://github.com/ClusterLabs/resource-agents/commit/05119e400fc5aedb8589c7e38dd3cd2d5c748057

I found this bug during testing of iSCSI and multipath failover which lead to
filesystem corruptions. While I am not sure if this really is the root cause I
would say, that the generation of a static scsi serial number which should be
unique justifies a SRU.

[Bug 1188590] [NEW] old version of Qt 4.8 causes crashes in various Qt applications

2013-06-07 Thread Sven B.
Public bug reported:

Due to this [1] Qt bug, present in Qt versions before 4.8.4, any

just randomly crash. Especially affected is KDevelop.

Any news on this? This is really annoying. It also seems that only the default

mixed colored and black/white icons which is even uglier than only black/white.
I agree, best solution would be a plugin which could be disabled.

[Bug 831768] Re: aptitude cannot handle conflicts with multiarch enabled

2013-04-19 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
The newly uploaded 0.6.6-1ubuntu1.2 version works perfectly for me on a
reasonably complicated Precise server with a mixture of i386 and amd64
packages.

Upon starting aptitude, it immediately started complaining about broken
packages and all sorts of fixes that it wanted to apply to fix all sorts
of problems, so I was skeptical at first. However, this turned out to be
because of some pending actions that aptitude still remembered from the
last time that I ran aptitude (months ago, just to test whether the
problem with multiarch had been fixed without me noticing). Telling
aptitude to forget all pending actions got me a perfectly clean system
according to aptitude.

Thanks for all the efforts, I love aptitude very much, although I've
gotten used to using apt-get as well now :-) Aptitude is much easier to
use for selectively upgrading packages, though, which is sometimes
necessary on my servers to minimize downtime caused by package upgrades.

[Bug 1170644] [NEW] link to c++ should be added to /usr/lib/ccache since cmake searches for it.

2013-04-19 Thread Sven
Public bug reported:

While using cmake in our project, we observed no ccache is used but
ccache is installed correctly (and works with qmake for e.g.). cmake is
using the c++ and will find it (/usr/bin) and therefore no ccache is
used until we created a new link insicde /usr/local/ccache.

This may also be cross related with the update-alternatives, which seems
to provide the symlink.

[Bug 1168461] [NEW] Upload file dialog does not see all image files

2013-04-12 Thread Sven
Public bug reported:

What happened:
If a website allows the user to upload an image, the file upload dialog does
not show all image files.

Preparation:
- Create a folder named bugtest
- Copy a JPEG photo in that folder, name it first.jpg
- Copy another JPEG photo in that folder, name it second.JPG (notice the
capital letters)

Steps to reproduce:
- Click https://www.marktplaats.nl/syi/plaatsAdvertentie.html
- Click the first item on all of the three lists Kies groep, Kies subgroep
and Kies rubriek
- Scroll down to 3. Upload tot 8 foto's
- Click on the blue camera image on the left
- Navigate to the folder bugtest

You will only be able to select first.jpg, since second.JPG is not
displayed.

No try to change the file type dropdown menu in the lower right corner:
it shows Image files and can not be changed to all files.

So it is impossible to upload JPEG images with an extension in capital
letters without renaming them before.

Expected behaviour:
- Images are selectable independent of their extension
- file type can be changed to all files

[Bug 1167212] [NEW] Kernel cmdline preseed/url is invalid

2013-04-10 Thread Sven Ulland
Public bug reported:

The preseeding documentation refers to preseed/url as a valid cmdline
to indicate the location of a preseed file on the network:

https://help.ubuntu.com/12.10/installation-guide/amd64/preseed-intro.html
https://help.ubuntu.com/12.10/installation-guide/amd64/preseed-using.html

However, this parameter is not read by casper itself. It only accepts
url:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
branches/ubuntu/raring/casper/raring/view/head:/scripts/casper-
bottom/24preseed#L60

I suggest adding support for preseed/url in casper, rather than
