[Bug 292661] Re: Sound Issues with [SiS] AC'97 Sound Controller (rev a0)

2009-10-30 Thread svetj
Hi Leann.
I've just upgraded to Karmic 9.10, but with no so much lucky.
now the soundcard sounds better, but still discontinued.
I'm going to give you a new report soon.

I know my laptop is quite old, but with kernel 2.4 and first versions of
2.6 it worked fine at all.

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 292661] [NEW] Sound Issues with [SiS] AC'97 Sound Controller (rev a0)

2008-11-02 Thread svetj
Public bug reported:

The computer is an EliteGroup G732 laptop with a SiS chipset,
and the driver for this in alsa is apparently the intel8x0 driver.

The problem is the sound quality - that is, the times it plays anything at all.
It is very choppy, distorted, and it skips a lot.
Basically it's impossible to listen to anything at all.

I tried out several kernel parameter souch irqpoll noacpi noapic, with
no lucky.

Thanks for considering this problem.

[Bug 112508] Re: irq 11: nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option)

2007-05-16 Thread svetj
Thank you a lot dansh!
Unfortunately the first tip is only for old kernel 2.4,
and no lucky also with the boot parameter biosriq :-(

I think I must open a new bug...

[Bug 112508] Re: irq 11: nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option)

2007-05-08 Thread svetj
Same problem for me, too.
I get the error with IRQ 9, after playing something with xmms for about 10
seconds..
I tried booting with 'pci=nomsi', 'pci=assign-busses' and 'noapic'.
But only irqpoll gives me a working wireless and audio card, even if the sound
is still discontinued.

I also reported the bug here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/88080
but the changes haven't solved my problem.

What should I do?
Should I attach here my dmesg and lspci?

Thank you

[Bug 88080] Re: Audio card crash (snd_intel8x0)

2007-02-27 Thread svetj
Actually the only way to avoid the crash audio card is to use the irqpoll
kernel parameter,
even if the sound is always fragmented.

Without this parameter, also the pcmcia stop working after a little
time.

I also tried to use the some driver parameters such buggy_irq, etc,
with no lucky.

Please ask for any question or test.

Thank you a lot.

Cheers
 Stefano
