[Bug 1784172] Re: Touchscreen does not work anymore on dell venue 11 pro 7139 on kernels 4.13 and above
I have just found the issue also here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1745342 Can you explain why this bug was nominated against a series that is no longer supported? The model 7139 is still supported by Dell. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1784172 Title: Touchscreen does not work anymore on dell venue 11 pro 7139 on kernels 4.13 and above To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1784172/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1784172] Re: Touchscreen does not work anymore on dell venue 11 pro 7139 on kernels 4.13 and above
Thank you for the answer. Initially I have installed fresh xubuntu 18.04 version. Just because touchscreen did not work, I have googled a bit and found this article: https://github.com/linuxwacom/wacom-hid-descriptors/issues/12 There I have found a reference to potential kernel issues: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198715#c14 Having that information in mind, decided to experiment with different ubuntu versions (again fresh): 16.04, 17.04 - both were successful (kernel 4.10). Following the kernels topic, I have decided to experiment with the kernel version by 18.04 according to: https://askubuntu.com/questions/700214/how-do-i-install-an-old-kernel It drops down to "sudo dpkg -i *.deb". The page contains the link to http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ Up to now I have tried following (starting with 4.10 as found by 16.04/17.04): kernel4.10/: linux-headers-4.10.17-041017_4.10.17-041017.201705201051_all.deb linux-headers-4.10.17-041017-generic_4.10.17-041017.201705201051_amd64.deb linux-image-4.10.17-041017-generic_4.10.17-041017.201705201051_amd64.deb kernel4.11/: linux-headers-4.11.12-041112_4.11.12-041112.201707210350_all.deb linux-headers-4.11.12-041112-generic_4.11.12-041112.201707210350_amd64.deb linux-image-4.11.12-041112-generic_4.11.12-041112.201707210350_amd64.deb kernel4.12/: linux-headers-4.12.14-041214_4.12.14-041214.201709200843_all.deb linux-headers-4.12.14-041214-generic_4.12.14-041214.201709200843_amd64.deb linux-image-4.12.14-041214-generic_4.12.14-041214.201709200843_amd64.deb kernel4.13/: linux-headers-4.13.1-041301_4.13.1-041301.201709100232_all.deb linux-headers-4.13.1-041301-generic_4.13.1-041301.201709100232_amd64.deb linux-image-4.13.1-041301-generic_4.13.1-041301.201709100232_amd64.deb kernel4.14/: linux-headers-4.14.56-041456_4.14.56-041456.201807170758_all.deb linux-headers-4.14.56-041456-generic_4.14.56-041456.201807170758_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-4.14.56-041456-generic_4.14.56-041456.201807170758_amd64.deb linux-modules-4.14.56-041456-generic_4.14.56-041456.201807170758_amd64.deb kernel4.18rc0/: linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc1_4.18.0-041800rc1.201806162031_all.deb linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc1-generic_4.18.0-041800rc1.201806162031_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-4.18.0-041800rc1-generic_4.18.0-041800rc1.201806162031_amd64.deb linux-modules-4.18.0-041800rc1-generic_4.18.0-041800rc1.201806162031_amd64.deb kernel4.18rc5/: linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc5_4.18.0-041800rc5.201807152130_all.deb linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc5-generic_4.18.0-041800rc5.201807152130_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-4.18.0-041800rc5-generic_4.18.0-041800rc5.201807152130_amd64.deb linux-modules-4.18.0-041800rc5-generic_4.18.0-041800rc5.201807152130_amd64.deb kernel4.18rc7/: linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc7_4.18.0-041800rc7.201807292230_all.deb linux-headers-4.18.0-041800rc7-generic_4.18.0-041800rc7.201807292230_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-4.18.0-041800rc7-generic_4.18.0-041800rc7.201807292230_amd64.deb linux-modules-4.18.0-041800rc7-generic_4.18.0-041800rc7.201807292230_amd64.deb I believe you have asked me to test the last one. Just did it today without succcess. Starting from 4.13.1 nothing works. The last version 4.12.14 works fine for me (like 4.10.17 too).
