[Bug 1690085] Re: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks
PLEASE post your concerns to this kernel.org thread with this issue! https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196683 CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU_ALL kernel option was removed and would likely fix this issue if put back! Supposedly there is a kernel command param you can pass to alleviate some of this, but thats a hack in my mind. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #196683 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196683 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690085 Title: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1690085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1690085] Re: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks
Franck: I very much agree that its not related to what you linked. The link you refer to deals with heavy load compilation segfaults, which is addressed with a RMAd CPU. This thread seems to be mostly centered around system idle / low usage complete system crash. No logs, blank screen. I have a movie playing on my server on loop to hopefully keep the machine from becoming too idle which I hate doing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690085 Title: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1690085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1690085] Re: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks
More details. - latest agesa - disabled nouveau - disabled randomized mem - upped SOC voltage - disabled C-states / cool-n-quiet - using kernel 4.13.4 with RCU changes made, though only CONFIG_RCU_NOCB_CPU was available in 4.13.4 I'm open to trying other kernels if requested. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1690085 Title: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1690085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1690085] Re: Ryzen 1800X freeze - rcu_sched detected stalls on CPUs/tasks
I too still have random computer shutdowns without logs. Uptime varies from a couple days to a week or so. It happens it seems after being relatively idle for a long period. I do have high memory usage because of the VMs I run. I've disabled C-states, cool and quiet, tested memory, and so forth. I also compiled a new kernel as mentioned by Stuart. I do not have segfaults with compilations. I am willing to run tests and provide info. Please let me know if anyone wants something. [Bug 1156306] Re: Blank screen after resume from suspend - Intel ironlake - i915 - Kernel 3.8.0 - Ubuntu 13.04
I too have this exact same issue. I can't wait for a fix as 13.04 has been quite a bit snappier on my old hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1156306 Title: Blank screen after resume from suspend - Intel ironlake - i915 - Kernel 3.8.0 - Ubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1156306/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This constant reassignment is fun to watch. If I had the time I'd dive into the code. Good luck to whomever finally takes this task on... or marks it as completed. There are several aspects to this issue: * linux - something attempts to load the module when perhaps it doesn't need to (unclear at this point) - the module looks like it is using WARN() when it isn't, and is arguably more SHOUTY than it needs to be. * kerneloops - picks up this as WARN() when it isn't. - Was accidentally left enabled for the stable release, people shouldn't be getting asked to report this at this point. - Isn't very good at dealing with repeat issues, causing more reports to be sent than are needed. and possibly others as well.
