[Bug 976196] [NEW] Top panel background inconsistent with the Unity menu background

2012-04-07 Thread the_madman
Public bug reported:

When opening the Unity menu, the top panel's background colour is not
consistent with the Unity menu's background colour, which makes it a
very jarring experience. I will attach a screenshot.

This is after I have upgraded from 11.10.

[Bug 661012] Re: Desktop experience gets slow and sluggish a couple of times per hour

2010-10-19 Thread the_madman
I'm also having this problem and, after posting this -
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9998313#post9998313 - found the
link posted bySerge van Ginderachter.

This wouldn't normally be an issue, except it's also affecting sound and
video playback.

Unfortunately, I can't find an earlier kernel in the repositories for
desktops and wouldn't know how to get the GRUB menu to show if I could.
And it's late, I'm tired and I'm lazy, dammit!

Even worse is that the 10.04 LiveCD doesn't seem to be working with this
laptop, so I can't even install the LTS and make the problem vanish.

[Bug 595265] Re: Can not add Facebook account as add button not displayed after authorisation.

2010-09-06 Thread the_madman
My previous comment resulted in the Add/Cancel buttons appearing: it
seems that Gwibber isn't recognising the calls Facebook makes when
Gwibber is already authorised by Facebook.

To remove Gwibber from your authorised Facebook applications, log in to
Facebook in a web-browser, click the, "Account" menu button in the top-
right and click, "Application Settings". In the Application Settings
page, click the, "Show:" drop-down menu and select, "Granted application
permissions". Then, in all categories where Gwibber appears, click the
crosses to remove all permissions from Gwibber.

Open Gwibber and select, "Accounts" from the, "Edit" menu. Click the,
"Add" button, select Facebook, then click, "Authorise". It will take you
to the Facebook authorisation page within that window. Type in your
user-name and password, then click, "Log in". This will then bring you
to another Facebook page within that window, detailing the permissions
you are about to grant Gwibber. Click, "Allow", and the process is
complete: the, "Authorise" button and the text label to its right will
disappear and be replaced with, "[Your Name] has been authorised by
Facebook".

I should also add, after the first authorisation to Facebook by Gwibber
version 2.30.2, removing the account, quitting Gwibber and opening it
again, then adding the Facebook account and authorising in a standard
way DOES NOT produce this bug. However, authorising Facebook in Gwibber
2.30.1 or earlier, then trying to authorise in Gwibber 2.30.2 DOES
reproduce this bug.

[Bug 595265] Re: Can not add Facebook account as add button not displayed after authorisation.

2010-09-06 Thread the_madman
I still experience this bug in version 2.30.2.

Another theory stated above was that Gwibber doesn't properly interpret
Facebook calls for applications that are already authorised, and
therefore does not show the Add/Cancel buttons. I am testing this now by
removing Gwibber from my Authorised Applications in Facebook and
attempting to authorise it again using Gwibber's interface.

[Bug 595265] Re: Can not add Facebook account as add button not displayed after authorisation.

2010-09-06 Thread the_madman
I have experienced this bug in Gwibber version 2.30.1, so I have
activated the proposed-updates repository in order to install 2.30.2 and
test the fix.

Yes, I've done this myself already. It's less a software bug than a
default configuration bug, I think.

[Bug 563074] [NEW] Add Widget panel has KWin borders drawn round it

2010-04-14 Thread the_madman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plasma-netbook

In the latest Lucid Lynx, the panel that appears when clicking the
toolbox (typically in the bottom left) and then clicking, "Add Widgets"
has a KWin border drawn for it. This is incorrect: it is a plasma-themed
panel and its appearance should be such that it, "extends" from the
bottom of the panel at the top of the screen.

[Bug 504278] [NEW] KMail's filter doesn't work with more then two options

2010-01-07 Thread the_madman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmail

In the Advanced Search dialogue, setting the, "Match any of the
following" and adding a third filter fails to find any results, even if
the previous two filters had results. This is unexpected, as even if
nothing is found that falls under the third filter, it should still
return the search results for the other two filters.

[Bug 439541] Re: Reply button on messages window should make room for the reply typing area

2009-12-13 Thread the_madman
It turns out that this is the result of a poorly-made default: there is
a grab handle at the bottom of the messages pane that, when click-
dragged up, will reveal the message box. This confused me for a while as
well.

[Bug 434251] Re: karmic: battery left time estimation is wrong and randomly changing

2009-11-12 Thread the_madman
This is unrelated to the gnome power applet: I suffer this problem in
Kubuntu jaunty. Oddly, the battery plasmoid reports in a somewhat normal
fashion until it reaches about 35%, at which point it drops immediately
to 3% and goes to sleep. I suspect it has something to do with HAL/udev.

Strange: on my system, HAL is installed, but the module for DeviceKit
storage disk management is also installed. I was under the impression
that HAL is being replaced with udev. Then again, if memory serves KDE
doesn't have a Solid plug-in for udev/DeviceKit, so it may just be that
HAL is installed in Kubuntu and not in standard Ubuntu due to this
limitation.

ticked.
