[Bug 2063066] [NEW] error dialogs for missing files unreasonable
Public bug reported: i have a large playlist as the playlist is large, over time, the playlist as populated originally is no longer accurately pointed to files that exist , as the playlist file structure is re-organized the end result is that when playing files on this playlist, audacious will attempt to play files that aren't there and error out. This is to be expected. here is an example from the old gtk UI Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/copyleft/perogie/jeff_cliff/pasttense/intake/1/pasttense/pasttense/1/intake/old/workingon2/disc1/elope/06-elope/audacity/Elope%20-%20Jeff%20Cliff_data/b01033.au: No such file or directory Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/talk/copycentre/copycentre/2600/hope/fifthhope/51/1/ogg/ogg1/preserving-digital-media.mp3.ogg: No such file or directory Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/talk/copycentre/copycentre/2600/oth/1999/3/070699.mp3: No such file or directory Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/talk/copycentre/copycentre/2600/oth/2002/1/4/2002/052102e.mp3: No such file or directory Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/copyleft/perogie/jeff_cliff/mandatorysuicide/intake/2/mandatorysuicide/intake/1/mandatorysuicide/intake/covers/cure-cover/source/1/cure/cure_data/b00175.au: No such file or directory Error playing file:///mnt/disk/audio/copyright/fairdealing/smashingpumpkins/smashingpumpkins/ogg/sda2/disc2/track01.cdda.ogg: No such file or directory so far so good. The problem comes with the new Qt mode. Same playlist. Same file structure, with some of the files missing. It also attempts to play the file, and fails. So far so good. The problem concerns the error message window Whereas in Gtk Classic mode, all of the errors were grouped on one window, which can be easily ignored, and dispatched with a single keystroke (escape) in Qt Mode each error is its own individual window and for some reason, it grabs the focus of the desktop environment, and attempting to click on audacious merely brings focus to the error window (ie you can't skip to the next song quickly with the b key until all of the open error windows are closed). As you can see above, there can be quite a few 'missing' files and, hence, quite a few open error windows. This is unreasonable - the old GtK interface did not require you to close a dozen or whatever windows between every song if you wanted to be able to control audacious (see attached screenshots). This might not seem like a lot of work, but it quickly wears on you. It's a subtle difference in behaviour, but one that makes it worth staying on Gtk classic mode for for this user. audacious: 4.1-2 ubuntu 22.04.04 LTS ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: audacious 4.1-2 Uname: Linux 6.0.7-gnulibre-squashfix x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu82.5 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Apr 21 20:43:52 2024 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-04-18 (2560 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) SourcePackage: audacious UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to jammy on 2023-06-14 (312 days ago) modified.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: [modified] mtime.conffile..etc.apport.crashdb.conf: 2020-06-07T21:16:26.397404 ** Affects: audacious (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug jammy third-party-packages wayland-session -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2063066 Title: error dialogs for missing files unreasonable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious/+bug/2063066/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1973067] [NEW] speed and pitch only go to 2x and are choppy at high speed
Public bug reported: Once you've listened at 2x speed for an extended period of time your brain adjusts to the higher speed, and 2x starts to feel limiting. There's a hard coded limit to the speed you can listen with the "Speed and Pitch" plugin to 2x speed both with and without pitch disentangled from speed. This patch expands this limit to 4x, and adjusts the frequency window to be a little more, allowing for a "smoother" listen at high speeds. In addition the max/min limits are adjusted, and the limits move in smaller degrees (so you can get just that much closer to the speed you can psychologically handle when listening at high speed). So this patch actually *does* kind of work but only on the gnome- terminal level (and includes some shotgun debugging). [Bug 1953196] [NEW] gnome-terminal misreads a fediverse identifier as an email
Public bug reported: On the fediverse ( the free software social media network of networks - https://jointhefedi.com/ ) the identifier format is @username@hostname unlike email which is username@hostname What happens: if you have a fediverse user displayed in your terminal, gnome-terminal deduces that it is an email and if you right click it, you are given the option to 'Copy Mail Address' and 'Send Mail To' instead of just 'Copy' What should happen: You should, instead, be given the option to 'Copy Fedi Address' (and, better yet, optionally 'Send DM To') instead of just 'Copy'. [Bug 1876431] [NEW] windows invisible when there should have been a lock screen
Public bug reported: Shortly after upgrading to focal (a few days) I left my computer alone and went and away for a good long while, long enough for the screen to lock Came back and 1) the screen was not locked, 2) the dock at the right hand side was still available and i could manipulate it (ie click on the applications that were running, see the screenshots of them when i mouse'd over them) 2) no windows could be seen. I managed to for example click on the running bitcoin icon in the top right hand corner, those were clickable too, but nothing did seemed to get the windows back. Alt-tab... alt-crl up... super-tab... nothing i could think of Wound up exiting out to terminal (ctrl-alt-f3, logging in) killing gnome-shell and they all came back shortly there after. ubuntu: focal 20.04 lts gnome-shell: Installed: 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 Candidate: 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 Version table: *** 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 500 500 http://mirrors.layeronline.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: gnome-shell 3.36.1-5ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-26.30-lowlatency 5.4.30 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-26-lowlatency x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat May 2 03:16:38 2020 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-04-18 (1109 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) RelatedPackageVersions: mutter-common 3.36.1-3ubuntu3 SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to focal on 2020-04-25 (6 days ago) ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal third-party-packages -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876431 Title: windows invisible when there should have been a lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1876431/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1875276] [NEW] needs way of renaming contacts
Public bug reported: 1) person 1 creates jami account, sends identifier to person 2 2) person 2 creates jami account, sends request 3) person 1 accepts request person 2 hasn't set up their account yet so their account name is a ginormous string of hexidecimal okay that's fine if you only have 1 friend. but if you have 150+ contacts...and none of them rename themselves...you are going to have a HARD time keeping track of who is who And generally...it is useful to be able to rename contacts. ICE for example is a standard 'in case of emergency' number to call. Not having this feature is kind of a usability problem.
