[Bug 734189] [NEW] Wireless card turns off when laptop power cable is unplugged

2011-03-12 Thread throughnothing
Public bug reported:

I am on a macbook (4,1), with the following wireless card:

02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4321 802.11a/b/g/n
(rev 03)

I'm also running natty with everything (presenty) up-to-date. When I
unplug my laptop from a power supply, the wireless goes away after about
2-3 seconds (or less). If i run :

sudo iwconfig eth1 power off

after this happens, my wireless comes back up. It seems to be something
wrong with power management for this card and this hardware?

I haven't had the issue since Maverick either.

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

 Bug description:
 Hi,

often when I resume the computer after a suspend to ram, the keyboard
responds very slowly: i.e., I press a key and the event is handled two or
three seconds later. This already happened with Hardy but I'm now running a
fresh Intrepid and the problem still occurs. Only a full restart can bring
the keyboard back to being usable.

I followed DebuggingKernelSuspend documentation on the wiki and I attach the
 generated dmesg file.

[Bug 400485] Re: Empathy sounds not in default ubuntu theme

2010-03-11 Thread throughnothing
No sound for me in lucid for empathy. I have sounds for everything
else...rhythmbox, banshee, firefox/flash, epiphany/flash, vlc,
totem...just about everything else I have tried. I also tried
installing sound-theme-freedesktop and switching my sound theme to
default from ubuntu and I still get no sounds with empathy.

[Bug 473615] Re: cryptsetup init scripts are redundant and can break the boot

2010-02-03 Thread throughnothing
I will say that after some time, my current set up works a lot of the
time (using usplash), but I occasionally get the same error that Dave
mentions above about usplash telling me to hit ESC to drop to a
console, but no keyboard input does anything (except ctrl + alt + del
still reboots for me every time). It's really frustrating when this
happens -- I usually have to reboot several times before it decides to
ask me for my /home password and not sit there indefinitely telling me
to hit the escape key.

My setup is a little different since I have / encrypted, but / *always*
accepts my password on the first try, and *always* mounts properly. The
only thing that doesnt want to always mount properly is /home, which is
what causes it to give me the press ESC to drop to a console when it
fails to prompt me for a password for this partition and thus can't
mount it.

And of course, when it does properly ask me for my password on the /home
partition, i *always* have to type the password in 3 times to get it to
accept it. It's as if the first 2 times the input is being directed
somewhere else or somethingmuch like it seems to do when I boot
without usplash.

When booting without usplash I also get the same symptoms as dave in
that the first time I type my password it shows up in plain text on the
screen after hitting enter always, and pretty much stays there for the
remainder of that boot. I can usually get the machine booted by typing
my password a couple of times after that though -- sometimes into a
prompt, but sometimes without a prompt even showing.

[Bug 430496] Re: cryptsetup devices not mounted on boot

2010-02-02 Thread throughnothing
@Dave Check and see if this bug matches your symptoms. I have been
having the issues that I mention in the folowing ticket:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/473615

If you think this fits what you are experiencing, maybe make a comment
there if it is not fixed for you either.
