[Bug 1531342] [NEW] Clicking on "Mouse and Touchpad" in settings results in continuous loading/busy

2016-01-05 Thread tjk
Public bug reported:

I have just reinstalled (fresh install) xubuntu 15.10. I didn't recall
this bug in my previous install -- but this time whenever I click on the
"mouse and touchpad" icon in the systems manager my mouse cursor turns
into busy/working, but nothing ever opens (I let it run for > 15
minutes). I'm able to use the cursor outside the window and continue
working in xubuntu - it's just the settings manager stays stuck until I
close the system manager (natural close - not kill).

I'm not familiar enough with what commands to use in the terminal to
test if the actual mouse and/or touchpad manager works... so if you need
more tests let me know.

[Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2015-12-25 Thread tjk
I just discovered this issue in a newly upgraded version of Lubuntu
15.10. I tried two of the possible solutions in this thread. The "sudo
openvpn --config file.ovpn" doesn't work for me, it gives an error:
"Error: Object 'nm' is unknown"...This DNS leak is really annoying
because it makes my vpn connection useless!

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2015-08-21 Thread tjk
Every once in a while I forget why I don't use Ubuntu Software Center...
but then I start it and remember why... I can't read anything (white
font on white background). This has been a weird situation because I
run a lot of apps and NONE have this problem with the current theme that
I use.

I decided to look up the bug this time... and what a long history there
is for this bug! I don't know how apps like this get included with a
mainstream ubuntu. It appears that a couple months you were close to a
fix, but then... the progress has seem to have stalled. It makes me
think that USC really isn't supported. If a minor bug like this
can't be fixed, then how should I feel about the quality of the Ubuntu
Software Center as a whole?

[Bug 1290101] Re: pcmanfm lost option to open current folder as root

2014-12-02 Thread tjk
I also miss the feature to right click on folder to open as root... I used this
a lot. And I've always used PCManFM with MATE deskop.
I think it was very noticeable that you were in root mode because of the
colorful warning message and the different color window... I don't know how you
could make a mistake, unless you didn't know what working in root does...
Please bring it back ASAP

[Bug 1253693] Re: top status bar missing shutdown button, clock, sound icon and more on upgrade to 13.10

2014-01-07 Thread tjk
This bug is very annoying. I just downloaded the most recent 13.10 ubuntu and
intalled it... and there is no system menu button. I've been running Lubuntu
for as long as it has existed and it's really frustrating to have bugs like
this in the current version of ubuntu.
BTW, I don't have a indicator log file, but I've attached the
unity-panel-service file...

[Bug 537809] [NEW] amorok crashes when opening script manager

2010-03-11 Thread tjk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

The crash is consistent... although it can be caused by many things such as
pressing the ok button or pressing the get scripts button, etc. Before
crashing it freezes for about a minute...
This crash makes the script manager unusable.

Using kubuntu 9.10 64-bit, KDE 4.4.1(although the Amarok about dialog says I'm
using 4.3.2)
Amorok version 2.2.2

This problem exists within the same single report that I am querying
the info... it really isn't multiple reports. Regular values from the
ledger have no problem overlapping years... it would be nice if this
could be implemented in a future version... but until then I will just
export two reports into a spreadsheet.

luck yet. It seems there's a number of things that will cause Strigi to
fail.

[Bug 431900] Re: Khelpcenter4 comes with outdated documentation

2009-10-09 Thread tjk
I have review the change log of kdebase-runtime and I went back as far
as I could (Nov 2007) and found no changes. Personally I think the text
outline format looks like it has come from the `90s. I never have used
khelpcenter because I never have found it useful and even worse it
seemed archaic. I would be surprised if even 5% of KDE users find this
app of any use. I think that a totally revamped help center would be
attractive to many. (Even Gnome has made reasonable improvements to
their help system.)

Re: [Bug 418825] Re: New great version 1.0 released

2009-09-08 Thread tjk
Thanks for your response... I've a better idea how the packaging
process works now (especially since I did some research and discovered
what a freeze is). Always something new to learn... :-)

Jonathan Thomas wrote:
Usually this package would be synced from Debian as soon as it was
updated there. The only thing is that we are past both Debian import
freeze (so these syncs have to be requested manually) and since a few
days before 1.0 was released, Feature Freeze. This means that to get an
exception for feature freeze, one must go through a bunch of red tape.
If Debian's going to update to 1.0.1 in the next few days, it'll be
worth it (for me) to wait a few days instead of going through all that
twice. If you want to request a sync yourself, go right ahead.

Freeze exception request documentation can be found here:

[Bug 418825] Re: New great version 1.0 released

2009-09-07 Thread tjk
Why isn't KMM2 ver 1.0 packaged already! I was trying to get some help
with the app, and finally figured out that my current version from the
Ubuntu repository was .9.2!! There have been a large number of
improvements since then, no wonder I didn't know what the people at the
forum were talking about, the features don't exist in .9.2!! This app
needs an immediate update package. It's unfortunate that I have to
enter private ppds for an update version of 1.0.0. BTW, it appears to
be working perfectly.

I've noticed this lack of updating app packages elsewhere (eg
KPhotoAlbum is far behind), and I've had to also acquire privately
compiled versions. Is there some problem with not being able to
maintain the Ubuntu upgrade repository with current versions?

[Bug 61381] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes at login

2007-02-05 Thread tjk
This error message just started for me yesterday, and as far as I'm aware I
only did two things:
 1) I tried installing enlightenment -- but because it didn't work properly I
completely uninstalled it using Synaptic Package Manager.
2) in the same session I changed the theme of Gnome

After rebooting the computer I received this error, I have not yet tried the
solutions posted above.
(BTW, I get numerous bug reports when I log on to Gnome -- so this might be a
compounded problem)

[Bug 61381] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes at login

2007-02-05 Thread tjk
This is too weird! As per my prior message I followed up by adjusting:
  /etc/hosts and /etc/network/interfaces and removing ::1 ip6-localhost
ip6-loopback -- actually I didn't adjust the later file since the lo loopback
reference was already there.
The result when I restarted the session was no different -- still the usual
error(s). I then decided to change my theme back to the original Human. I
restarted the session and since then there has been no problems (however
something is wrong with my themes as the window cannot read all the existing
themes and seems to stall...)
Just out of interest I added the ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback line again and
GNOME still has no problems starting.

[Bug 77125] Feisty crashes on install

2006-12-25 Thread tjk
Public bug reported:

No problems running Feisty from the live CD, but when I attempt and
install, it crashes.

I have verified the CD, have no problems installing other Ubuntu
distribs today. After I click install icon I get nothing but a screen
with upper half diag lines (blue/wht/grey) and lower half solid pink.
Ctrl+Alt+Bksp works to restart the live CD.

This is my first time reporting an error, so if there is a log, or some
other info that I can provide --- let me know (as this is probably not
enough to diagnose the problem).
