[Bug 1297286] Re: Wireless connection keeps disconnecting

2015-04-15 Thread tlue
I now removed Kernel 3.18 again and rebooted. Still working fine for a
good while now with the fix mentioned in my last post.

uname -a is showing: Linux Lenovo-Flex-2-15 3.13.0-49-generic

[Bug 1297286] Re: Wireless connection keeps disconnecting

2015-04-14 Thread tlue
just installed all update of last 3 weeks or so (still running on newer Kernel
as described above) but still not working reliably (not longer than 20 minutes).
Now did this one here
echo options rtl8723be fwlps=N ips=N | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
taken from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=13119513#post13119513
and rebooted again. Seems to be better now (30 minutes by now)...

[Bug 1297286] Re: Wireless connection keeps disconnecting

2015-03-17 Thread tlue
just updated to Kernel 3.18 as described in the post above. After reboot
I got disconnected again and a dialog with this error came popped up:

(4) Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy
blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection
was broken.

uname -a did show the new kernel (though I wonder how I would keep up to date
with this kernel regarding security bugs. I guess there would need be a
backport for the last LTS, right? Do we know what exact part has changed?

Please let me know, if I can help with any tests in this.

[Bug 1286552] Re: No wifi after suspend

2015-02-09 Thread tlue
the latest kernel seems to be working much better for be, as even after resume
I get working wifi. Unfortunately it fails after a while again (without suspend
or power save, just in the middle of surfing). Likely my issue this is now more
related to i.e. Bug 1320070
Thanks for all your work.

[Bug 12403] Re: unhinted font rendering bugs

2014-11-22 Thread tlue
i.e. this page https://nsupdate.info/about/ is using the font UnBatang
for the icons (i.e. a house icon for home link) in the title bar. they
appear as some kind of arabic letters to me that I can't read instead of
looking like icons (like it does when using Chrome from the same PC)

Inspecting the element in Firefox, it shows:

font-family: font-awesome.min.css:4 .fa FontAwesome;
: bootstrap.min.css:5 body Helvetica Neue,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
: bootstrap.min.css:5 html sans-serif;
font-size: 14px;

Inspecting the element in Chrome it shows:

body - Helvetica Neue,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif
html - sans-serif

[Bug 1346269] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 won't shut down (reboots)

2014-10-23 Thread tlue
I have exact same experience on a Lenovo Notebook (6 years old and always
running Ubuntu) with Nvidia proprietary graphics driver. With 12.04 it was
perfectly fine. Now since 14.04 I experience same as
Jaap Woldringh (jjhwoldringh) wrote on 2014-09-14:

the shutdown halts halfway, I guess after the hard disk stops rotating
(noise stops), but the cooling ventilators still run.

I have to keep pressing the hardware off button for 10 seconds or so, to
get it fully halted (vent stopping). Vent keeps going otherwise
indefinitely (tested it for more than an hour leaving it be, but did not
change anything)

a) sleep mode is working perfectly fine for me
b) after hardware-switch-off and switch on again, I often get message during

[Bug 1001976] Re: ICA Client (wfica): Citrix (Receiver) incomplete and not well integrated into Ubuntu Software Center

2014-10-23 Thread tlue
even after having (hopefully) done all of this, seamless mode with a
RemoteDesktop session is not working correctly with 14.04 (was fine in 12.04).
Now started using TeamViewer instead, but can't be the solution for most I
guess.

[Bug 713577] Re: bluetooth doesn't work after suspend/resume

2013-01-30 Thread tlue
after resume I get automatic notification that something crashed and to
send error report. Also I get the info to do this

sudo hcidump -XYt $HOME/hci.log

Find attached the hci.log
after a little while things are back running again, but sometimes (after second
or third time going to resume) the bluetooth menu (top right) is screwed up and
does not give all options anymore like i.e. disconnect form currently connected
device or getting to sound settings for that device etc.).

HTH, seems to be a very tricky one

[Bug 992089] Re: Update 11.10 to 12.04 process fails

2012-05-02 Thread tlue
please find attached the zipped folder. There are some files missing as
I got this errors when first copying folder to my home directory in
order to zip them:

Could not read /var/log/dist-upgrade/20120430-0828/apt-term.log
same for 20111013-2349
and for 20110620-0008

opening those three files shows me empty files (using kate).

I finished my update to 12.04 by doing the following after getting this
error:

sudo apt-get remove kmail
sudo apt-get remove knode

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
repeated the above two steps some few times until no errors came up any more.
At some stage I remembered I had the unofficial ppa Kubuntu backports in my
source list. At some point I also removed that source using a GUI tool (a GTK+
one I think, although not certain anymore) and it workes fine now and I enjoy
12.04.

Thanks for all the work!

[Bug 591449] [NEW] unmount usb Hal.Device.Volume.NotMountedByHal:

2010-06-08 Thread tlue
Public bug reported:

Using Kubuntu 10.04 (updated from 9.10) I can no longer securely unmount my USB
drives directly from within Dolphin. Instead I get the error message ...
Hal.Device.Volume.NotMountedByHal: .
Also when using the Device-Applet (in German: Geräteüberwachung) I get the
message that there are still files in use.

Nautilus is launched automatically. Choosing unmount there for my USB-
drive works fine.

Other people seem to have similar issues:
http://art.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1336124

Potentially this has got something to do with the fact, that HAL is not used
any more during boot in Ubuntu 10.04?

[Bug 423637] Re: cannot subscribe to other user's calendar

2010-04-09 Thread tlue
In Firefox I can do the following to get other users (i.e. Bob Miller)
calendars:

https://intranet.mycompanysSite.com/basic/bob.miller/Calendar/

for German Users Calendar sometimes has to be replaced with
Kalender. I guess this depends on the setup of that users mailbox on
exchange or something like that. I cannot choose Kalender in the
Evolution-Dialog. But also trying with an English users I get the same
general error.

[Bug 293970] Re: bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2009-09-18 Thread tlue
Same problem here on Ubuntu 9.04. I had a lot of open windows.
Especially Evolution Mail and VM-Ware-Workstation. I was switching many
times between VM-Guest and Host and I think Evolution wanted to pop-up a
message at the same time i was switching to the VM-Guest. Eventually
this helps a little bit to find the cause.

[Bug 293970] Re: bonobo-activation-server : could not associate with desktop session

2009-09-18 Thread tlue
...sorry. me again:
I restarted my laptop, started evolution (first time it always asks for a wrong
password), closed evolution, started evolution again (o.k.), started firefox,
opened evolution a second time (to see mails in one window and calender in the
other window) surfed some time, closed firefox, and got a freeze. - VM-Ware
seems not to be the cause.
- ctrl+F1 did not work anymore - ctrl+alt+backspace - login again - start
evolution - i received a calender-notification - probably the problem arises
when Evolution-calender wants to rise a notification but is not the active
window or something like that.

[Bug 218722] Re: KDE Trash Bin panel applet shows Empty trash bin as disabled even when trash contains objects

2008-08-03 Thread tlue
Trashcan Widget in KDE 4.1 works fine for me with the one exeption, that
when I chose to empty the Trashcan, the Icon is not changed to an empty
trashcan.

When I move one more/new item to the trash and than (in Dolphin) choose
to restore it, the widget's icon is up to date now again (as empty).

Seems as if that could have someting to do with the above mentioned
issues...

[Bug 179761] Hardy Alpha2: HP Deskjet F370 not Scanning i.e. with Kooka

2008-01-01 Thread tlue
Public bug reported:

Version: Hardy Alpha2 LiveCD

My Printer (HP Deskjet F370) was not automatically detected.
When adding it via System Setting it prints the testpage quite o.k.
When starting HPLIB-Toolbox and installing the same printer again, it says
(with green/user:root) that the printer is idle. Directly above this it says
(with red / user=ubuntu) Device communication error..
(quite similar to this bug 144974)

Because the things shown green with root are o.k. i thought to add user
ubuntu to the printer-group. But user Management does not work. (see
separate Bugreport)

After this I started Kooka to scan something, but there was only my tv-card
selectable as scan device.

PS: Installing XSane didn't change/help anything.
PS: Just contact me if you like to have all PrintScreen I made during this test.

Public bug reported:

System Setting - User Management:

the following Text appears:

The module User Management could not be loaded.

The diagnostics is:
Library files for libpython2.5.so not found in paths.

Possible reasons:
  - An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control
module
  - You have old third party modules lying around.

Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in
the error message etc.etc.
