[Bug 1429953] Re: hp-setup won't install driver for laserjet M1132MFP

2015-03-22 Thread toccata
Even if it's working, I've got this message a few seconds afert the desktop:
"No system tray detected on this system.
Unable to start, exiting."
If I manually launch hp-systay, I have the blue icon in the task bar.

[Bug 1429953] Re: hp-setup won't install driver for laserjet M1132MFP

2015-03-19 Thread toccata
My solution: download the source tarball from sourceforge. Decompress then
1) cd hplip-3.15.2.10
2) ./configure --prefix=/usr
3) make
4) su -c"make install"
launch hp-setup: it will install the binary plugin.
You'll then be able to scan.

[Bug 1429953] [NEW] hp-setup won't install driver for laserjet M1132MFP

2015-03-09 Thread toccata
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch)
Release:15.04
hplip:
  Installé : 3.15.2-0ubuntu3
  Candidat : 3.15.2-0ubuntu3
 Table de version :

Fresh kubuntu 15.04 beta 1 install. I try to make my laserjet M1132MFP work
(printer+scanner).
Communication with the printer is ok but hp-setup fails to install the
proprietary plugin.
After that, I've got a message at each reboot of Hplip status service saying
"No system tray detected".
I tried hp-doctor but with no success (complains about unmet dependencies
(packages not detected but
they exist on my system).

[Bug 1306500] Re: some keys stopped working: left & right arrows, backspace

2014-04-27 Thread toccata
Great info Scott. I performed the following steps (not sure they are all
relevant).
I installed scim packages and im-switch. Then I launched im-switch from the
command line and choose
"use setting by the sysadmin". Relaunch X-session, launch gnucash: arrow keys
are now working.
I'll see if there are unwanted side effects to this.

[Bug 1306500] Re: some keys stopped working: left & right arrows, backspace

2014-04-11 Thread toccata
Further investigation consisted in reinstalling gnucash version 2.4 from 13.10.
Same behaviour, so the bug could be related to a gtk grid bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnucash/+bug/1247702

If I press on the arrow keys inside a cell, I have to switch to another
application then back again to see the refresh.
Not sure where I have to declare this bug.

Following the last update, gnucash has become extremely painfull to use: it's

[Bug 1299686] Re: Segmentation fault (core dumped) when starting

2014-04-06 Thread toccata
I tried to compile the 5.5-beta sources. It didn't give me any usable software.
Why not stay on a more stable 5.4.1 version (specially for a LTS) ?
The 5.5 seems clearly far from finished.

[Bug 1299686] Re: Segmentation fault (core dumped) when starting

2014-03-30 Thread toccata
Starting scilab from the terminal just gives me:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

scilab-cli seems to work just fine: I can launch it and write a few
commands.

If I launch scilab from the Kubuntu start menu (kickoff application launcher),
I notice a very short lived window which closes almost immediatly.
If I try again from the Kubuntu start menu: nothing happens.
