[Bug 1969959] Re: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
@Daniel - I understand how to troubleshoot things and your steps seems very valid, but I don't have any discrete AMD card right here to test. Also - AMD Ryzen CPUs are not equipped with builtin GPU :) Whole case is about the installation process is simply impossible to be accomplished for 99% of the users. [Bug 358118] Re: ALSA SPDIF IEC958 output no longer bit perfect (regression)
Daniel: It's ok, but as far as I know, most of alsa-enabled applications don't use or are not aware of "plug" (like VLC or other). [Bug 358118] Re: ALSA SPDIF IEC958 output no longer bit perfect (regression)
Ok, I did the tests you have proposed and I'm having the same issue here. mplayer works for 48khz ac3 file you've provided but only for -ao alsa:device=iec958, giving device=hw=0.1 gives noise. What is interesting - doing tests which cause a noise (with hw=0.1) , will make device=iec958 method fail too. Only alsa force-reload will bring back proper behavior. 44khz files gives noise. VLC set up to use ALSA hw0,1 fails for both files, I'm having noise. same with aplay -D hw:0,1 to...@hardc0re:~$ cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 10.10 \n \l to...@hardc0re:~$ aplay -l Lista PLAYBACK urządzeń karta 0: Intel [HDA Intel], urządzenie 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog] Urządzenia podrzędne: 1/1 Urządzenie podrzędne #0: subdevice #0 karta 0: Intel [HDA Intel], urządzenie 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital] Urządzenia podrzędne: 1/1 Urządzenie podrzędne #0: subdevice #0 to...@hardc0re:~$ uname -a Linux hardc0re 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:36:48 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux to...@hardc0re:~$ dpkg -l alsa-base Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Nazwa Wersja Opis +++-==-==- ii alsa-base 1.0.23+dfsg-1u ALSA driver configuration files to...@hardc0re:~$ -- ALSA SPDIF IEC958 output no longer bit perfect (regression) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358118 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 520157] Re: PulseAudio doesn't allow AC3 output through S/PDIF
I did some testing on 10.10. No surround sound on S/PDIF no matter what I've tried. VLC gives static noise instead of surround sound. mplayer with -ao alsa -ac hwac3 gives nothing, just silence, using Alsa directly in any media player with possibility of S/PDIF passthrough gives silence. Only using pulseaudio defaults gives just stereo output and system sounds working, but on very low volume level. Everything unmuted, set to 100%, tried and checked two times. -- PulseAudio doesn't allow AC3 output through S/PDIF https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520157 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 236372] Re: SPDIF on hda-intel does not support more than two channels
Same here. No s/pdif multichannel output. Just digital stereo. Few words I've posted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/520157 The only sign of S/PDIF multichannel happens when tried with VLC S/PDIF direct output, but this gives strange beahvior on my amp (Dolby Digital and number of channels indicator flashes at random). [Bug 520157] Re: PulseAudio doesn't allow AC3 output through S/PDIF
It's not amp's fault, it supports AC3. [Bug 518751] [NEW] netinstall and package dependencies problem
Public bug reported: I'm having problem getting clean netinstall of Ubuntu 8.04 or 9.10 Server. I'm doing PXE boot and it is working fine. Everything goes ok until tasksel. I can't do any offline boot method on this particular machine - no floppy, no cd, no usb booting possible. After selecting "nothing" or "OpenSSH server" I can't get mostly- minimal install because "language-pack-gnome-en" is being installed at some point causing a lot of unnecessary packages being installed as dependencies (like openoffice.org, parts of x.org, whole bunch of gnome related stuff and multimediamedia related stuff too - over 120 MB of packages, 120-130 pieces). What I have tried: - different apt mirror - different http proxy - different Ubuntu versions (8.04 and 9.10) - messing around with aptitude ("Manual package selection") during tasksel and forcibly deselecting language-pack-gnome-* packages, which doesn't do anything, they are installed anyway. Steps required to reproduce: - do a PXE boot netinstall of 8.04 or 9.10 - use pl.archive.ubuntu.com or de.archive.ubuntu.com as repositories, and use any kind of http proxy to connect to them. - during tasksel phase select nothing or OpenSSH Server - wait - note the moment where language-pack-gnome-en being installed and how much dependencies it will cause. I tried offline (usb,cd) installs of both editions on different machine and those are working as expected. I'm ending up with very clean base system without unnecessary packages not needed usually on server. ** Affects: yelp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- netinstall and package dependencies problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
