Same issue for me on 14.10, nvidia-331, GTX860M (PC Specialist Optimus 13.3) happening every 30 mins or so. Does not occur with with intel card or USB mouse. [Bug 1374868] [NEW] Nvidia driver freezes 340.32 with touchpad freezes system
Public bug reported: When using the touchpad on my pcspecialist optimus V laptop ubuntu freezes completely and the only way to solve it is to restart. The issue does not occur when using a USB mouse, or when the prime profile is set to Intel chip. This occurs with nvidia GTX860m, using the nvidia 340.32 driver from the xorg edgers PPA. Hi, sorry for the delay. CPU Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz/2400.000 MHz/2048 KB and 2GB memory. I went into the LO options and found the memory tab and increased them all significantly from default. This did seem to solve the problem, but compared with my netbook which was running 10.10 with the same memory defaults as 12.04 it seems strange that it was struggling. I have launcher in auto-hide mode. If I press super + w, then decide not to do anything and press it again to go back to the same application I was in, the launcher is revealed and the application numbers on the launcher come up and stay there. The launcher remains revealed overlaying a full screen app. The launcher stays till I use super + w and use escape to release to go back to the same application. This occurs whether I hold the super key or press and release and then use again. I have the same problem when I use the top left hotspot or the entire left edge. I have to make sure I move the cursor over with sufficient velocity from the right to get it to reveal. This might be useful if it appeared too easily.
