still present in: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS gnome-terminal/bionic-updates,now 3.28.2-1ubuntu1~18.04.1 amd64 it looks like gnome-terminal isn't sure whether or not to be semi- transparent when the window is not in front and is overlapped by a foreground window. So, I see 3 states when the terminal window is not in focus and partially overlapped by a foreground window: 1) Sometimes it is semi-transparent (like it is expected when a window is overlapped by a foreground window) 2) sometimes it is not transparent, albeit it is not in focus and overlapped by a foreground window. also a bug? 3) and finally sometimes it flickers between the above two states: semi- transparent and non-transparent. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561370 Title: gnome-terminal transparency no longer works reliably (usually opaque, but sometimes shows transparency) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/561370/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1335642] [NEW] mdadm runs into infinite loop and prevents initrd/initramfs phase to finish on boot
Public bug reported: Hi all, probably the issue is caused by changing the SATA-port where RAID disks were originally attached -- this is the only thing that happened before my Ubuntu 14.04 (kernel-3.13.0-27) became unbootable. During the boot the OS runs into infinite loop reporting from time to time these: incrementally starting raid arrays mdadm: Create user root not found mdadm: create group disk not found incrementally started raid arrays Since mdadm is in initrd image, I don't even know how to skip mdadm -- workarounds are very welcome, please! For example, renaming /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf in initrd image didn't help, mdadm then just repeats infinitely without group/user-related errors: incrementally starting raid arrays incrementally started raid arrays incrementally starting raid arrays incrementally started raid arrays ... Disks are successfully assembled into a RAID under LiveCD Ubuntu 13 (yes , i have only old CD here) Why I consider this a bug? because my RAID-array is needed at application level, not on OS-level (e.g. it is not mounted as / or /boot). So, if one can't boot into OS it is a serious bug. [Bug 630138] [NEW] Freeze during extensive output to the console
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal Console suddenly stops to display any new data that massively comes from an application (presumably via stderr). The freeze can last 5 to 25min! The application that performs output seems to sleep all this time. The application is *not* interactive, that is, there is absolutely *no* input from user expected and/or requested. Console resumes the output when one tries to move the vertical scroller bar. [Bug 625671] [NEW] Tray view shows steady about 2x to 3x more CPU load than a full view
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor 1. The trayed mini-view shows about 60%-75% overal processor load when mouse passes over the icon. Whereas the full view shows that both cores are less than 20% loaded. 2. [Bug 284229] Re: console-kit-daemon using a lot of cpu
I agree with user jh. For me the urgency is severe or high. I could write a script to kill these processes, but this may kill healthy activity too ... So, until a workaround is not clear for me it is severe too. Also, I am quite worrying about the age of this bug in this unsolved state. This looks for me like with current urgency we'll hardly get it solved in somewhat reasonable time. -- console-kit-daemon using a lot of cpu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284229 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 146710] Re: backlight brighness control does not work (Samsung Q45 with Nvidia GForce 8400M)
My Samsung P35 laptop worked good with Ubuntu Feisty 7.04. Now I've upgraded my working Ubuntu to the recently published Ubuntu 7.10. In a few seconds after log in my laptop stops to react to Fn+LightUp Fn-LightDown key combinations. Even worse: the screen starts to flicker badly several minutes.
