[Bug 1292281] [NEW] impossible to install a required package during 14.04 partial update

2014-03-13 Thread vmerlet
Public bug reported:

During 14.04 partial update, I encountered the following error :

Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'

It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a
bug using 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

This is most likely a transient problem, please try again later.

I tried updating through Synaptic and it worked ! Maybe a different
dependency solver ?

[Bug 1052201] Re: update-notifier steals focus

2013-03-18 Thread vmerlet
When I run (under graphical environment) :

update-manager --no-focus-on-map

It works :
- start minimized
- when clicking on the icon in taskbar : it shows the main app as expeted

When I run (under tty1) :

DISPLAY=:0 update-manager --no-focus-on-map

It fails :
- start minimized
- but when clicking on the icon in taskbar : it doesn't show up as expected
(same behaviour described in this bug report)

Don't know however if it's the good way to reproduce this bug.

[Bug 1075050] Re: [Dell E6530] Precise installer can't boot to desktop without nomodeset

2012-11-15 Thread vmerlet
Same problem here with a DELL latitude E6530 with hybrid graphic
disabled in BIOS.

When booting with Ubuntu 12.04.1 with default options : black screen.

When booting with Ubuntu 12.04.1 with nomodeset : boot fine, but stuck
with 1024x768 resolution for desktop.

Works flawlessly with 12.10 with default options (native screen
resolution is used).

It would be great if a solution can be applied to 12.04 because it's an
LTS version... maybe it'll be solved in 12.04.2 if the graphic stack
from 12.10 is backported.

[Bug 1034660] Re: gvfsd-sftp crashed with SIGSEGV in fast_validate_len()

Hi,

I don't know if it can help somebody, but in my case, I was lacking the
gvfs-backends package. So nautilus wasn't able to connect using sftp
protocol.

Reinstallation of this package solved the problem.

bug #1033275 is for a different problem.
