[Bug 714332] [NEW] Nautilus hangs on certain SVG, jpg or tiff file selection

2011-02-06 Thread volksman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When browsing in nautilus certain SVG, jpg or tiff files will cause
nautilus to hang and never come back, only when the files have been
selected (IE click on a particular file and the window will never be
responsive again).

Nautilus does not log anything anywhere that I can find and a kill
-SIGUSR1 'nautilus pid' does not produce any output.

A run of nautilus -c produces no errors.

nfs-kernel-server has an upstream bug that stops crossmnt from working.
Upstream has confirmed and has a fix.

I fixed this problem on my machine by downloading nfs-kernel-server and
nfs-common from Debian squeeze:

ii nfs-common 1:1.2.2-4

[Bug 563216] [NEW] Openssh5.1p1 sftp file control

2010-04-14 Thread volksman
Public bug reported:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=9.10
DISTRIB_CODENAME=karmic
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 9.10

openssh 5.1-p1

Has support for chroot sftp users, however there is no way to control
file permissions.

There is a patch here:

http://sftpfilecontrol.sourceforge.net/

That when applied adds a few items to sshd_conf to allow umask and a
couple other overrides. This seems to have been accepted for
openssh5.4. Would be great to see that patch implemented in 5.1p1 and
even 5.3 (for Lucid).

A backport of 5.4 or 5.5 in Lucid would be fantastic. Then we can
completely eliminate the need for scponly hacks.

[Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX

After installing the above package and making the change to
/usr/NX/etc/node.cfg I am able to use PolicyKit remotely.

Nicely done Marcelo!

[Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX

2008-06-25 Thread volksman
@Marcelo: Just realized you fixed FreeNX. Not nomachines NX. Wonder
if I should switch. I tried to change Nomachines nxnode config to use
your nx-session-launcher but it doesn't work, just crashes.

Are you confirming this is a problem with NX though and not policy kit
or is this a band-aid until policy kit is fixed? I'm not sure anyone
has opened a bug with Nomachine yet for this issue.

[Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX

2008-06-25 Thread volksman
Tried with both:

edit /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg and add /usr/bin/nx-session-launcher to the COMMAND
directive. NX crashes on connect.

changed my client profile to custom and added /usr/bin/nx-session-
launcher-suid as the launched application and NX doesn't crash but no
desktop is drawn. Just the NX window.

True enough. So the problem is really with PolicyKit and Marcelo's fix
is a band-aid for FreeNX.

[Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX

2008-04-30 Thread volksman
Please disregard first two comments. I had originally filed this bug as
a bug with policykit not working at all before I realized that NX could
be interfering.

This has been confirmed by a number of people in the forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=712006

** Summary changed:

- Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out
+ Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX

** Description changed:

I installed 8.04 LTS server on a system. Then installed ubuntu-desktop
- using apt. The unlock buttons on Users and Groups or Network are greyed
- out and un-accessible. Tried running from a term 'sudo users-admin'
- with the same results.
+ using apt. Installed Nomachine's NX server and connected to it.

- Checked and ensured I'm part of the 'admin' group.
+ The unlock buttons on Users and Groups or Network are greyed out and un-
+ accessible. Tried running from a term 'sudo users-admin' with the same
+ results.

- Tried to re-install policykit with no change.
+ Works fine with VNC and NX Shadow session however this is not really
+ acceptable as it means a session has to be running on console first.
+
+ I have tried to enable every option in Authorizations to allow the
+ remote session to have privileges to no avail.
