[Bug 232557] Re: console-kit-daemon leaks memory
Message #22 says: status: Confirmed - Fix Released But how to apply the fix to older versions of Ubuntu? Is it possible to install consolekit (0.4.2-1ubuntu1) natty on those versions? If so, how? Also the questions of #20 and #24 remain unanswered. I have an addition to what I wrote in #20. I am using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS with Gnome replaced by KDE, on a Thinkpad laptop. Under my 8.04 the problem seems to disappear when kernel 2.6.31 is used (basically from Ubuntu 9.10): PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 4007 root 20 0 9060 1704 1372 S0 0.1 0:00.22 console-kit-dae This is the situation under the original kernel 2.6.24, after 28 days of uptime: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 6083 root 20 0 202m 194m 1608 S0 9.7 5:35.92 console-kit-dae (Sorry, the lines of 'top' display ugly.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232557 Title: console-kit-daemon leaks memory -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 232557] Re: console-kit-daemon leaks memory
Just to inform that I have the problem under Ubuntu 8.04 (desktop). After 11 days of uptime ps axu gives root 6062 0.0 4.7 107924 98684 ?Ssl Sep15 2:38 /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon Moreover, the only cure that works for me is reboot (after having killed console-kit-daemon I cannot get it back again). Notice that the rather confused discussion in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/consolekit/+bug/148454 contains quite a few examples of the same memory leak problem. Maybe at least a hint how to restart the program? best regards --W.D. -- console-kit-daemon leaks memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/232557 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 241590] Re: dirty writeback set longer when on ac than battery
Still it would be better to correct this rather simple bug. A few things in /proc/sys/vm are set wrongly, apparently by laptop-tools. The corrections suggested in the wiki are rather complicated. My 8.04 is kept updated, with settings close to the defaults. On AC I have: cat /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs /proc/sys/vm/dirty_ratio /proc/sys/vm/dirty_background_ratio 0 500 3000 40 10 On battery it is: cat /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs /proc/sys/vm/dirty_expire_centisecs /proc/sys/vm/dirty_ratio /proc/sys/vm/dirty_background_ratio 2 30 30 60 1 -- dirty writeback set longer when on ac than battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241590 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again
I'm sorry, I got so frustrated I reinstalled Gutsy! For now, I don't experience the problem anymore, but who knows... ;-) -- [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again
I experience the same problem. After log out sometimes I can't login at all, I can see the desktop for a split second and then the screen stays black (with a mouse pointer). The only thing that remains is rebooting the machine, because ctrl-alt-backspace brings you to the login screen, but logging in is not possible... ** Attachment added: nautilus-debug-log.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10069215/nautilus-debug-log.txt -- [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136529] Re: Can't log in after upgrading
Same problem here, but removing xserver-xgl solved it for me. But it's just a workaround. I hope to be running xserver-xgl soon! -- Can't log in after upgrading https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
