[Bug 30995] Re: dm_mod causes false busy on mount attempts

2007-12-22 Thread wna
Some days ago I had a similar problem after an update:

Machine has two SATA drives.
I had /boot and swap on primary partitions /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2,
/ and other filesystems on Software-RAID-1 and LVM.

After the issue neither /boot nor swap was recognized on /dev/sda*.
Instead it was mapped to /dev/evms/sda*. The RAID and LVM devices on
/dev/md* and /dev/mapper/* worked fine though.

$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /boot
mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /boot busy
$ sudo mount /dev/evms/sda1 /boot
$ sudo swapon /dev/sda2
swapon: /dev/sda2: Invalid argument
$ sudo swapon /dev/evms/sda2
$

This cost me quite some time to figure out ;-(

Is this intended, i.e. should I change my fstab to point to /dev/evms/*
?

[Bug 117899] Re: ps2 keyboard does not work on VIA chipset mainboard

2007-09-30 Thread wna
I resolved the problem by adding the following init script:

   #!/bin/sh
   echo -n i8042  /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/unbind
   echo -n i8042  /sys/bus/platform/drivers/i8042/bind

(linking it to /etc/rc2.d/S20rebind-keyboard worked for me.)

 Thank you for your bug report. Do you still have this issue with the

no, I don't.
As far as I remember, the issue was resolved with the next distribution kernel
after 2.6.15-26. I'm currently using Feisty with the latest kernel and didn't
have similar issues since then.

[Bug 106289] Re: PS/2 Keyboards Not Responding

2007-04-29 Thread wna
Booting the kernel with parameter acpi=off resolved the problem for me.

I had exactly the same problem as described above: Keyboard worked fine
with Edgy. After an upgrade to Feisty the keyboard worked in Grub, but
neither on the console nor in X.

I noticed that in /proc/bus/input/devices veraious power and sleep
buttons are listed with the kbd driver as handler. Maybe I should add,
that my motherboard is rather old and doesn't support ACPI properly.

This workaround may resolve similar problems with PS/2 mice, too (e.g.
bug 108382).

[Bug 106289] Re: PS/2 Keyboards Not Responding

2007-04-29 Thread wna
BTW: I don't think this bug is related to Macintosh mouse button
emulation as suggested some posts above. Googling for this phrase
brings up lots of dmesg output indicating that thsi device is detected
frequently with recent kernels. Hower, no keyboard problems are reported
in the same context.

On my machine Macintosh mouse button emulation still shows up, but the
keyboard now works with acpi=off.
