[Bug 1627872] [NEW] Black Lab Linux installer crashed on install of 64bit signed EFI grub

2016-09-26 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

I was trying to install Black Lab Linux on my Asus TP500LA. It got to
the point where grub is installed when it gave me the message that the
64 bit signed EFI package failed to install to the target (sda1)

That's all the info I have at the moment. I will try to reboot and
reinstall.

[Bug 808631] Re: package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 2

2011-08-26 Thread wrekced
Thinking that perhaps I had done something to cause this, I re-installed Ubuntu
11.04.
After the install, I used the "Sharing Options" Feature in Nautilus to install
the Samba software and share some folders.
After logging out and back in, the problem persists:

>From my XP box I see two copies of this machine in the network machines list.
I cannot log in to either one.
The same error message comes up.

Is there any further information that is needed to diagnose this?
Files? Logs?

Please let me know.

Un-installing and re-installing Samba did nothing again. Windows still
sees two instances and can't log in to either one.

Ubuntu has no problem logging in.

Back to square one! ... Any ideas what might be causing this?

Just replaced /etc/samba/smb.conf with /etc/samba/smb.conf.ucf-dist
This brings back the second instance in the workgroup and still has the same
error when I try to log in.

Nautilus!
I just un-shared the shares in Nautilus. The shares disappeared. Ubuntu can
still log in. However, Windows still sees two copies and can't log in. Same
error

2011-08-14 Thread wrekced
After the last Samba update, I can see two instances of my computer in
the workgroup from my Windows machine. I cannot log into either one
though. Files still can't be shared between my Windows machines and my
Linux box. My Windows XP box says "The parameter is incorrect" which
parameter is that I wonder...

>From another Ubuntu box, I see only one instance in the workgroup and I
can log into it.

I just removed and re-installed Samba. The second instance of my
computer disappeared from the workgroup. However, I still get the same
error: "The parameter is incorrect". I cannot log in from Windows XP or
7 but Ubuntu still has no problem.

I notice that when I completely remove Samba, it still remembers my previous
shares... How do I get rid of that? What file in my home directory do I delete?

Before the upgrade to 11.04 Samba and system-config-samba worked just
fine for sharing with the windows machines on my network. Now, at first
this machine did not show up in the workgroup at all. now it shows up
but I can't connect. My XP box says that "The parameter is wrong"
Whatever that means... I tried un-installing and re-installing Samba and
system-config-samba. There was an error. That is how I got to this

[Bug 653849] [NEW] Installing Ubuntu wrecked XP that was already installed

2010-10-02 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

This is a Dell XPS M1210
I partitioned my drive for three OS's
I installed the OEM windows (Both versions) Media Center and Media Direct
They worked fine
Then I installed 10.04.1 on a separate partition
Now neither version of XP will boot.
Not even in safe mode. They just hang and the keyboard does nothing
To shut off from trying to boot Media Direct, I had to unplug it and wait for
the battery to die because the power button did nothing!
Any idea how to fix this?

[Bug 561782] Re: Ubuntu One is confused about the conection status

2010-05-31 Thread wrekced
With the update to Ubuntu 10.04, there is no longer a notification area icon
and the folder doesn't give the connection status. I can no longer reproduce
this error. I just added a file and it seems to be syncing just fine.
Thanks for reminding me about this bug. I guess it can be closed.

[Bug 561782] [NEW] Ubuntu One is confused about the conection status

2010-04-12 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I just added a folder and it hasn't updated yet. I tried to disconnect using
the icon on the panel. That did nothing. So I opened the file manager and it
says "connect" not "Disconnect" like the icon menu does. Neither button nor the
menu do anything to change the status.
BTW: It would be nice if "Print Screen" worked when a menu was open. I had to
use a camera to get a screenshot.

[Bug 546512] [NEW] New computer won't wake up after screensaver goes off

2010-03-24 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

I can suspend and hibernate from the logout menu. However, it never
seems to reach that point. I turned off the suspend/hibernate in power
management under screensaver preferences. It still locks up. Not really
sure why. The screensaver runs as it should. But after that it becomes
unresponsive. The hard drive light comes on but the screen is black.
Putting in my password does nothing either. The keyboard does not seem
to make it respond. The mouse does nothing but the light is on. I have
to re-boot.

I have used UO since I made this report and this seems to have been a one time
thing. I will let you know if it happens again.

[Bug 510310] [NEW] Mixer Applet Icon is Duplicated

2010-01-20 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Bug #401294 mentions something similar, but there is no functionality to
the duplicate icon here. The icon appears during the startup process.
The background is highlighted. (On the left in the picture) The icon on
the right works as expected. The one on the left does nothing. This
started happening a couple updates ago. I have not figured out what
causes it to happen. It does not do it every time I re-boot. The only
thing I have noticed is that it seems to happen when I am late singing
in to the Keyring authorization for UbuntuOne.

[Bug 486796] [NEW] Unable to connect: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:57256

2009-11-22 Thread wrekced
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

This may be a duplicate of another bug... I was trying to add my machine
after deleting it from UO on the web. It was logging in but not showing
the proper directory contents on the web interface. And otherwise,
behaving buggy. It was listed twice in the list of computers. So, I
deleted both of them. Then I re-booted and logged in. UO recognized that
it did not know this machine and gave me the option to add it. that's
when I got the error from Firefox.

I have a screenshot. (No uploads?) Basically, I have to re-start X
(CTRL+ALT+BKSP) To get it to clear up. It happens even more in

areas: Text entry boxes, Icon labels, the panels, etc.. Sometimes when
it first boots it is like that too. No clue what is causing that.
